US 18 (Bluemound Road) Resurfacing

Waukesha County

Project Details

The project will rehabilitate the roadway’s deteriorating pavement, extending its service life and improving ride quality. The project will also update outdated traffic signal equipment, lighting, curb ramps, and pedestrian accommodations in select locations. The project will not modify access or median openings.

Phase 1: 2023 Construction
Project work in 2023 will include milling, paving and upgrading traffic signals.

  • Construction from east of Moorland Road to the east Waukesha County line is scheduled from early July to fall 2023.
  • The project typically will maintain the existing two lanes of traffic in each direction during the day, reducing to one lane during evening and early morning hours. Reduction to one lane may extend into daytime hours for up to three weeks during pavement repairs and paving work.

Phase 2: 2024 Construction
Project work in 2024 will include further milling, paving and upgrading traffic signals.

  • Construction from I-94 to east of Moorland Road is scheduled to resume in spring 2024 and be completed in fall 2024.

Access to businesses and residences will be maintained throughout the project. Temporary driveway closures may be necessary for short periods, and the contractor will contact property owners before closing a driveway for construction operations.
