Overview
This project will make various improvements to I-41/43/894 and the Hale Interchange, between Lincoln Avenue and 84th Street, in Milwaukee County.
Improvements
The entire corridor will be resurfaced. Other project improvements include:
- Repair several (17) bridge structures within the Hale Interchange
- Concrete base patching
- Repair the Hales Corners Park and Ride lot
- Reapply high friction surface treatment to interchange curves
- Replace guardrail
- Replace existing curb ramps to meet ADA standards
- Signal and light upgrades
- Ramp improvements
Traffic Impacts
Two-way traffic along I-41/43/894 will be maintained during this project. Resurfacing work will be completed mainly during overnight hours.
Long-term system ramp closures for Hale Interchange bridge improvements.
- Northbound to eastbound system ramp in the Hale Interchange to be closed for approximately 45 days starting in mid-summer.
- Westbound to southbound system ramp in the Hale Interchange to close for approximately 45 days starting in late summer.
Overnight full freeway, lane, and ramp closures are expected.
Extended weekend full freeway, and system ramp closures.
Local roads adjacent to the ramps being repairs may require lane closures, but will remain open to traffic.
The Hales Corners Park and Ride lot will remain open for partial use during construction, as well as the MCTS Route 55 located within the lot.
Schedule
This project is scheduled to being in late May 2025 and be completed by late 2026. All work is weather dependent and subject to change.
