WisDOT held a Construction Information Meeting in Sevastopol on August 27 with the project team and construction contractor.
Project Location
The is a bridge/culvert replacement project on WIS 57 in Door County. The project work is along a 17.6-mile stretch of WIS 57 from the Mid Junction with WIS 42 near Sturgeon Bay to Baileys Harbor in the towns of Sevastopol, Baileys Harbor and Jacksonport in Door County.
Project Scope
The proposed improvements include:
- Bridge/culvert replacements located at Lily Bay Creek, Geisel Creek, Logan Creek and Hibbard Creek
- Replacement of asphalt pavement adjacent to and over new structure
- Beam guard removals, replacements and/or new installations at Lily Bay Creek, Geisel Creek, Logan Creek and Hibbard Creek
- Pavement marking on new asphalt pavement at each bridge/culvert replacement location
- Driveway culvert replacements at Geisel Creek and Logan Creek
- Driveway relocation near Logan Creek crossing
- Storm sewer installation near Logan Creek crossing
Schedule
Construction is expected to occur at each of the crossings as follows:
- Lily Bay Creek and Geisel Creek: September 3, 2024 – November 27, 2024 (COMPLETE)
- Logan Creek: April 2025 – July 2025
- Hibbard Creek: September 2025 – November 2025
Traffic Impacts: During construction, WIS 57 will be closed to traffic at each crossing. Below is a list of proposed detours for each crossing:
- Lily Bay Creek and Geisel Creek – WIS 57 to WIS 42 to County Road I to WIS 57
- Logan Creek – WIS 57 to County Road T to County Road V to WIS 57
- Hibbard Creek – WIS 57 to County Road V to County Road A to County Road E to WIS 57
Access will be maintained to businesses and residents along the project corridor throughout construction.
Temporary Business Signing and Business Resources
Temporary business signing may be placed during the detoured portion of the project by filling out a WisDOT business signing permit. All temporary business signing needs approval via the permit before placement to ensure it is in a safe location and does not pose a visual distraction or traffic hazard.
The temporary business signing permit is free. Costs associated with creating the temporary sign are the responsibility of the business. The permit is available as a fillable-form WORD document or pdf below, or you can request one from the project contacts below.
