Project Updates

September 28, 2023 Update:

Work on the WIS 38 project from Caledonia to Oak Creek is continuing despite the rain this week. The full, 19-day closure, which began on September 19th, is continuing, and the box culvert work is expected to be completed and reopened for traffic by Saturday, September 30th. Other project work continues to progress as well.

Project work happening this week (9/25 – 9/30):

  • Work on beam guard, gabion walls, and place rip rap at the box culvert C-51-10
  • Asphalt pavement patching at the box culvert and other locations scheduled for Thursday 9/28.
  • Asphalt mainline paving work now scheduled for Friday 9/29, Saturday 9/30, and continuing through possibly Thursday, October 5th, for the north phase of the project. The north phase includes the paving from just south of 6-1/2 Mile Rd to the north project limits, Oakwood Rd, including all side road intersections.
  • Continuing to work on installing new traffic signal equipment at the 6 Mile Road and 7 Mile Road intersections.
  • Reinstall/replace sections of beam guard.
  • Continue pavement marking on south phase of the project.
  • Installing shoulder rumble strips on the south phase of the project.

Anticipated work for next week (10/2 – 10/7):

  • Complete asphalt paving on the north phase of the project.
  • Complete concrete curb ramps at Elm Rd and the Oak Leaf Trail
  • Pavement Marking
  • Landscaping restoration
  • Continue signals work

Traffic changes happening in the next 7 days:

  • Expect flagging with some possible minor delays in the areas scheduled for Asphalt Paving at the end of this week and into next week.
  • Reopen STH 38 at the Root River crossing after Saturday, September 30th.
  • The route will remain closed to thru traffic
