Northeast Region weekly highway construction update
(Green Bay) The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) Northeast Region provides a weekly construction update on all northeast region state highway projects currently under construction. This advisory details construction activities, schedule and traffic impacts for a two-week period. The NE Region consists of 11 counties: Brown, Calumet, Door, Fond du Lac, Kewaunee, Manitowoc, Marinette, Oconto, Outagamie, Sheboygan, and Winnebago. Construction projects are listed by county below.

Region Wide Deck Sealing 2017
Schedule: June 2017 to July 2017
Length: 0.000 miles
Cost: $409,357.79
Location: Northeast Region Wide
Description: This project will include the furnishing and applying of a protective surface treatment to the entire top surface of the bridge deck, curb, including vertical face, median or sidewalk surfaces and the inside faces and tops of concrete parapets or railings.
June 5 to June 11: No work is occurring this week, but the contractor plans to start work on June 12, 2017.
June 12 to June 19: The contractor anticipates mobilizing to site, setting up traffic control as needed, and begin sealing bridge structures on I-43 beginning in Manitowoc County and Sheboygan County.
Traffic impacts: I-43 will have various short term one lane closures at each bridge structure in Manitowoc and Sheboygan Counties.
BROWN COUNTY
I-43 resurfacing and bridge overlays, WIS 172 cable guard installation
Location/limits: I-43 (WIS 96 to WIS 172); WIS 172 (Webster Ave. to I-43/WIS 172 ramps)
Schedule: March 20, 2017 to November 2017
Length: I-43 (10.6 miles), WIS 172 (2.98 miles)
Cost: $16.5 million
Description of work: Work on I-43 consists of concrete base patching of I-43 mainline (northbound and southbound), milling 2-inches of asphalt pavement and placing 4-inches of new asphalt pavement, signing, pavement marking, concrete overlay on various bridge structures, and concrete deck replacement of the US 141/County Road MM bridge over I-43. Bridge structure work on I-43 will be completed by the July 4th Holiday. Work on WIS 172 consists of installing cable guard and median grading. WIS 172 work will take place during nighttime hours later in the season.
June 5 to June 9: The contractor finished pouring the northbound overlays and began pouring the southbound driving lane overlays. They also continued with wing repairs, joint repairs, deck prep, and surface repairs on the southbound structures. The contractor also continued working on the southbound base patches, as well as the patches on the eastbound WIS 172 to southbound I-43 ramp. Concrete base patches on the southbound I-43 off-ramp to WIS 96 were also completed.
June 12 to June 16: The contractor will continue with wing repairs, joint repairs, deck prep, surface repairs and deck overlays in the southbound lanes. Another contractor will also continue working on the southbound base patches as well as the northbound and southbound bridge approach slabs. The contractor is also planning to start placing the temporary asphalt ramps at the northbound structures.
Traffic impacts: There will be only one lane open to traffic on northbound and southbound I-43 for the majority of the project. Expect travel delays during peak travel times. I-43 lane closures will become weekly (with two lanes open on weekends) in July 2017. Current closures are listed below.
- March 20, 2017 to June 2017: Long-term, single-lane closures on northbound and southbound I-43 between WIS 96 and WIS 172. Traffic is in the inside lanes of I-43 northbound and southbound. The southbound lanes are narrowed to 13 feet max width. Starting May 30, the northbound lane will be narrowed to 13 feet max width for a 21-day period.
- Eastbound WIS 172 ramp to southbound I-43 has one lane closed.
- Allouez Avenue bridge over I-43 will be closed on June 16, 2017. It will remain closed until the middle of July.

WIS 32 (Ashland Ave.) resurfacing and bridge replacement
Location/limits: WIS 32 (Ashland Ave.), 8th Street to Lombardi Ave.
Schedule: February 9, 2017 to August 2017
Length: 3.2 miles
Cost: $6.3 million
Description of work: Resurfacing of WIS 32 with some deeper repairs to fix rutting at the various intersections. The project also includes replacement of two bridges over Ashwaubenon Creek, traffic signal replacement, railroad crossing replacement, beam guard replacement, new signing and pavement marking at Parkview Road, and pour concrete bases for new traffic signals along the project.
June 5 to June 9: The contractor will complete paving the Mike McCarthy Way / Ashland Ave intersection. The contractor will begin paving the Hansen Road / Ashland Ave intersection. The contractor will place and grade ¾ Inch base on the shoulders at the Mike McCarthy Way / Ashland Ave intersection. The contractor will paint permanent pavement markings at the Mike McCarthy / Ashland Ave intersection. The contractor is tentatively scheduled to open Ashland Ave from Lombardi Ave to Cormier Road on Friday, June 9.
June 12 to June 16: The contractor will complete paving the Hansen Road / Ashland Ave intersection. The contractor will place and grade ¾ Inch base on the shoulders at the Hansen Road / Ashland Ave intersection. The contractor will install guardrail at the Ashwaubenon Creek Bridges. The contractor will paint permanent pavement markings and install the permanent signing at the Hansen / Ashland Ave intersection. The contractor is tentatively scheduled to open Ashland Ave from Vanderperren Way to Parkview Road on Friday, June 16.
Traffic impacts:
- Ashland Ave. is closed to through traffic between Parkview Road and Vanderperren Way.
- Parkview Road is open to traffic.
- The Ashland/Mike McCarthy intersection is closed but is tentatively scheduled to open Friday, June 9.
- The Ashland/Hansen intersection is closed but is tentatively scheduled to open Friday, June 16.
- The Ashland/Vanderperren intersection is scheduled to close on Monday, June 19 for approximately 4 weeks.
- The Ashland/Pilgrim intersection is scheduled to close on Monday, June 19 for approximately 4 weeks.
- Access to residences and businesses will be maintained.
Detour: WIS 32 northbound traffic at the 8th Street intersection will be detoured onto County G (Main Street) westbound to northbound I-41 to the Mason Street interchange where it will connect back into WIS 32. Southbound traffic will be directed to stay on I-41 at the Mason Street interchange to the County G (Main Ave.) exit and back to WIS 32 southbound at the 8th Street intersection.

WIS 32 (8th Street) reconstruction
Location: WIS 32 (8th Street), Main Ave. to Ashland Ave. in city of De Pere
Schedule: April 17 to August 2017
Length: 0.4 miles
Cost: $1,504,629.90
Description of work: The project is located on WIS 32 (8th Street) from the intersection of Main Avenue to the Ashland Avenue roundabout in the city of De Pere in Brown County. The existing pavement and utilities are beyond their service life. The city has already completed replacement of the watermain and sanitary facilities. This project will be a full reconstruct of the roadway. The parking lanes on 8th Street will be removed, and bike lanes will be added with the project. Work will consist of storm sewer, concrete pavement, curb and gutter, sidewalk, signing, pavement marking, lighting and landscaping.
June 5 to June 9: The contractor will continue to install drain tile with open-graded base. String line will be set and trimming will be completed for concrete pavement areas.
June 12 to June 16: The contractor will continue to install drain tile with open-graded base. Staking and string line will be set, and trimming will be completed, for concrete pavement areas.
Traffic impacts: 8th Street from Main Avenue to Ashland Avenue will be closed during construction. Local access will be maintained for property owners and businesses in the construction area. The closure will also include a pedestrian detour via 9th Street, which will be in place for the duration of the project.
Detour:
- WIS 32 northbound traffic at the 8th Street intersection will take County G (Main Ave.) westbound to northbound I-41 to the Mason Street interchange where it will connect back into WIS 32.
- Southbound traffic will be directed to stay on I-41 at the Mason Street interchange to the County G (Main Ave.) exit and back to WIS 32 southbound at the 8th Street intersection.

I-41 Project finishing work
Location/limits: I-41 (Glory Road in De Pere to Lineville Drive in Howard)
Schedule: January 2017 to July 2017
Length: 11 miles
Cost: $2.2 million
Description of work: Final finishing work will continue on I-41 and local roads, including Intelligent Transportation System installation, lighting, fencing, landscaping, sign and pavement markings. Crews will finish the Duck Creek recreational trail, and mill and overlay at East/West Deerfield Drive from Duck Creek to Lineville Drive.
June 5 to June 9: Install remaining signs, culvert markers and endwall markers. Continue installing right-of-way fence project wide.
June 12 to June 16: Complete installation of all remaining signs, culvert markers and endwall markers. Complete installation of all right-of-way fence project wide. Complete lighting work on I-41 and I-43.
Traffic impacts: Night time lane closures on southbound I-41 and westbound WIS 29 will occur the night of June 9. The week of June 12 will have multiple night time lane closures on I-41, I-43 and WIS 29. The northbound I-43 on-ramp from Atkinson Drive will be closed the nights of June 12 and June 15.
Green Bay Lift Bridges
Location: WIS 29 (Walnut Street Bridge), US 141 (Main Street Bridge), WIS 54 (Mason Street Bridge) over the Fox River in the city of Green Bay
Schedule: September 2016 to July 2017
Length: On-bridge work
Cost: $1,328,700
Description of work: The project includes upgrades to the software systems that control the bridges, new closed circuit television (CCTV) monitors and cameras, and a new public address system on the bridges. The project will also include the installation of equipment to provide the capability of future remote operation of the Mason Street Bridge and Main Street Bridge from the Walnut Street Bridge.
June 5 to June 9: Continue work on the Walnut Street lift house.
June 12 to June 16: Continue work on the Walnut Street lift house.

BROWN AND OUTAGAMIE COUNTIES
I-41 resurfacing, ramp and bridge structure work
Location/limits: I-41, County J in Outagamie County to Orange Lane in Brown County
Length: 10.35 miles
Schedule: Feb. 20, 2017 to November 2017
Description of work: Work will include milling off and resurfacing existing pavement, concrete pavement patch repairs, cable guard installation, polymer high-friction surface treatment application on bridge decks, beam guard replacements, grading, concrete pavement, storm sewer, culvert pipe replacements and lining, intelligent transportation systems (ITS) installation, signing and pavement marking. Other improvements include deck repair to the Apple Creek bridges due to deterioration, expansion of capacity at the County S Park and Ride, reconstruction of the Wrightstown Weigh Station ramps, and the addition of an auxiliary lane from the weigh station to County U northbound I-41 off-ramp.
June 5 to June 9: Earthwork operations on the southern half of the project will be completed, this work will then move to the northern half of the project. Asphalt paving operations on mainline and shoulders will continue.
June 12 to June 16: Earthwork will continue in the median working to the north, as the grade dries, final shaping and landscaping work will begin. Asphalt paving operations will continue on mainline and shoulders, paving of the temporary median crossovers is scheduled to start at the end of the week.
Traffic impacts: I-41 nighttime lane closures will take place from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. A minimum of one lane in each direction will remain open at all times.
- County Road U southbound on-ramp will be closed on Wednesday, June 14 and Thursday, June 15 from 6 p.m. to 6 a.m.
- County Road U southbound off-ramp will be closed on Wednesday, June 14 and Tuesday, June 15 from 7 p.m. to 7 a.m.
- Construction will be conducted in stages for the Apple Creek bridge improvements. Apple Creek bridges will be rehabbed one half at a time, which will shift traffic onto three lanes (two in one direction and one in the opposite direction) on one side of I-41 and leave one remaining adjacent to the work zone. Days/time TBA.
- I-41/County U northbound off-ramp will be closed at a later date for 15 consecutive days. Days/time TBA.
- County S (between I-41 ramps) will be closed at a later date for 15 consecutive days. Days/time TBA.

FOND DU LAC COUNTY
WIS 44 recondition and passing lane addition
Location/limits: Douglas Street/E Oshkosh St. Intersection in city of Ripon to 500 feet north of the Fond du Lac/Winnebago County line
Schedule: May 30, 2017 to October 2017
Length: 4.9 Miles
Cost: $4,787,756
Description of work: This project includes removing and replacing WIS 44 pavement, widening of the roadway section from 36-feet to 44-feet, adding one-mile long passing lanes to northbound WIS 44 from Seelig Way to Page Road, and southbound WIS 44 from Fletcher Road to just past Springbrook Road, and adding traffic signals to the Douglas Street/E Oshkosh Street intersection. Other work includes adding centerline and shoulder rumble strips, improving drainage where possible, ancillary concrete, permanent signing, erosion control, pavement marking and landscaping.
June 5 to June 9: The contractor continued stripping topsoil and working on earthwork and began placing, spreading and compacting breaker run and placing fabric and geogrid in the northbound passing lane.
June 12 to June 16: The contractor will continue stripping topsoil and working on earthwork. They will continue placing breaker run, geogrid and fabric as subgrade conditions dictate. They will begin placing base aggregate dense on top of the breaker run. They will restore areas that are brought up to final bottom of pavement grades. They will bring in an additional grading crew to start work on the southbound outside shoulder.
Traffic impacts: WIS 44 is closed to through traffic and detoured for the duration of the project. Local access will be maintained to property owners, residents and emergency services.
Detour: Northbound WIS 44 detour route will follow WIS 23 to County M to WIS 44, and reverse for southbound traffic detour.
MANITOWOC COUNTY
I-43 resurfacing and bridge replacement
Location/limits: I-43, Clover Road in Clover to Point Creek Road in Cleveland
Length: 6.5 miles
Schedule: March 20, 2017 to November 2017
Cost: $9.4 million
Description of work: I-43 work will consist of concrete base patching of mainline and milling 2-inches of asphalt pavement and placing 4-inches of new asphalt pavement, concrete overlay on bridge structures, signing, pavement marking concrete overlay on bridge structures. Ramp patching and resurfacing work at County C interchange, bridge replacement of northbound I-43 bridge at Point Creek Road and bridge replacement of southbound I-43 bridge over County U/Newton Road.
June 5 to June 9: Crews finished pouring parapets and began removing falsework on the southbound I-43 bridge over Newton Road and continued asphalt paving on the southbound lanes of I-43.
June 12 to June 16: Crews will finish removing falsework on the southbound I-43 bridge over Newton Road and continue asphalt paving on southbound I-43.
Traffic impacts: There will be only one lane of traffic open on northbound and southbound I-43 for the majority of the project. Expect travel delays during peak travel times. Various ramps will be closed during the project. Current or upcoming closures are listed below
- March 20, 2017 to November 2017: I-43 will be reduced to one lane in each direction between Point Creek Road and Silver Creek Road.
- March 24 to July 2017: Southbound I-43 on-ramp from County C CLOSED.
- March 27 to June 2017: County U (Newton Road) CLOSED under I-43 while bridge replacement takes place.
- April 10 to mid-July: Point Creek Road over I-43 CLOSED.
Detour: During I-43/County C ramp closures, motorists will be directed to use the I-43/US 151 interchange ramps to the north or the I-43/County XX interchange ramps to the south. No detour will be posted for local road closures.

WIS 42 (Lincoln Avenue) reconstruction
Location/limits: Lincoln Ave. from 22nd Street to 35th Place in city of Two Rivers
Length 0.9 Miles
Schedule: March 12, 2017 to November 2017
Cost: $4.5 million
Description of work: This project is an urban reconstruct of WIS 42, includes grading, storm sewer, water main, sanitary sewer, concrete pavement, concrete curb and gutter, concrete sidewalk, signing, pavement marking and street lighting.
June 5 to June 9: Water services and sewer laterals continued north of 34Th Street. Sanitary main installation continued north of 34st St. Excavation was completed between 25th St and 30th St. Staking for concrete pavement was completed from the south end of the project to 30th St. Clearing and grubbing was completed on the entire project.
June 12 to June 16: Storm sewer and sanitary sewer will continue north. Water main tie-in at 35th Place will be completed. Concrete paving will begin with the first segment from 22nd St to 30th St.
Traffic impacts: WIS 42 from 22nd Street to 35th Place is closed and detoured during construction. Access will be maintained to property owners, businesses and emergency services. Cross traffic will be maintained at 24th Street and 34th Street at all times except that 24th St will be closed periodically for trimming and concrete paving operations. 35th Place may be closed next week for the water main tie-in.
Detour: The detour route follows County VV, WIS 147 and WIS 42.
OCONTO COUNTY
WIS 22 reconditioning
Location/limits: WIS 22, Highland Drive in Oconto Falls to US 141 in town of Stiles
Schedule: March 6, 2017 to mid-July 2017
Length: 4.22 miles
Cost: $3.4 million
Description of work: Reconditioning of WIS 22 consists of milling the existing asphalt pavement and placing a new driving surface. WIS 22 base-layer improvements will be completed in certain areas. Other work includes adding right-turn lanes at County I, Larson Road and Younger Road, removing and replacing two concrete box culverts, replacing existing culvert pipes at various locations, and installing new pavement marking and permanent signs.
June 5 to June 9: Contractor closed the County I intersection and continued grading new right-turn lanes, removed and placed new culvert pipes. Contractor backfilled roadway slopes to match new endwalls and placed topsoil. Construction began on the railroad crossing west of Duame Road.
June 12 to June 16: Contractor will continue grading County I and WIS 22 intersection, including the right-turn lanes. They will also pour curb and gutter at County I intersection and railroad crossing, place asphalt and concrete pavement at the railroad crossing, and complete placing base course in the gravel lift areas between Highland Drive to east of County I. Asphalt pavement will be placed starting with the lower layer between Highland Drive and County I and the box culvert locations. Following that work, the contractor will pave the top layer the entire length of the project. Construction of the railroad crossing will be completed.
Traffic impacts: WIS 22 is closed and detoured between Highland Drive and Duame Road and expected to open by mid-July.
Detour: WIS 22 to County B to County A to US 141 to WIS 22
SHEBOYGAN COUNTY
I-43 resurfacing
Location/limits: I-43 from Sheboygan/Manitowoc County line to WIS 42/I-43 interchange
Schedule: June 1, 2017 to November 2017
Length: 6.9 miles
Cost: $6.2 million
Description of work: Project consists of concrete base patching of I-43 mainline, milling 2-inches of asphalt pavement and placing 4-inches of new asphalt pavement, ramp resurfacing at the I-43/WIS 42 interchange, culvert replacement, signing, and pavement marking.
June 5 to June 9: Work on the project began this week. They set up traffic control, removed the needed rumble strips, and replaced culverts crossing northbound I-43. Erosion control was also put into place for the project.
June 12 to June 16: They will begin base patching of the concrete pavement on the inside lanes of northbound I-43.
Traffic impacts: There will be single lane closures of northbound and southbound I-43 during construction, leaving one lane of traffic open for motorists in various segments of the project work zone. However, lane closures will be removed during peak travel times on the weekend.
- Northbound I-43 will be down to a single lane of travel from 6 a.m. Saturday through noon on Friday during construction.
- All lanes open from noon Friday to 6 a.m. Saturday during construction.
- Southbound I-43 will be down to a single lane of travel from 6 a.m. Monday through 6 a.m. Sunday during construction.
- All lanes open from 6 a.m. Sunday to 6 a.m. Monday during construction.
- There will be various nighttime closures of the I-43/WIS 42 interchange ramps for paving operations.

WIS 42 (Calumet Drive) reconstruction
Location/limits: Calumet Drive from Main Avenue to 26th Street in the city of Sheboygan, and from Mueller Road to I-43.
Schedule: May 22, 2017 to October 2017
Length: 1.5 mile
Cost: $3.3 million
Description of work: The project includes full reconstruction of WIS 42 from Main Avenue to 26th Street, a total length of one-half mile, and pavement rehabilitation of WIS 42 from Mueller Road to I-43, a total length of 1 mile. Work consists of earthwork and grading, water main, sanitary sewer and storm sewer, base aggregate, concrete pavement, concrete pavement repair, concrete curb and gutter, concrete sidewalk, street lighting, traffic signals, landscaping, pavement markings, and sign replacement.
June 5 to June 9: The contractor placed the curb and gutter, asphaltic roadway surface and asphaltic sidewalk for the temporary roadway widening along the west side of WIS 42 (Calumet Drive) from Main Avenue to 26th Street; they removed the existing pavement markings and placed temporary pavement markings for the traffic change; and they began to mill of the existing asphaltic overlay along the WIS 42 (Calumet Drive) northbound lanes.
NOTE: Traffic is now counter-directional along WIS 42 (Calumet Drive) southbound lanes with one lane in each direction.
June 12 to June 16: The contractor will finish milling off the existing asphaltic overlay and will remove the existing concrete along WIS 42 (Calumet Drive) northbound lanes. AT&T and Sheboygan Water will begin their utility adjustments to accommodate the new roadway and storm sewer system, which will take approximately 15 working days to complete.
Traffic impacts: WIS 42 and North Avenue will remain open to a minimum of one lane of traffic in each direction at all times. Various turning movements will be prohibited at the WIS 42 and North Avenue intersection at times during construction.
Current Traffic Restrictions:
- WIS 42 southbound is reduced to one lane from Main Avenue to 27th Street.
- No access to 25th Street west from WIS 42 (Calumet Drive).
Upcoming Traffic Restrictions: Scheduled to begin June 11th and last until late August.
- WIS 42 (Calumet Drive) will be reduced to one lane in each direction along the current southbound WIS 42 (Calumet Drive) lanes.
- North Avenue will be reduced to one lane in each direction.
- No access to 25th Street east from WIS 42 (Calumet Drive).
- No access to 26th Street east from WIS 42 (Calumet Drive).

WINNEAGO COUNTY
WIS 441 Tri-County Expansion Project: I-41 Interchange Ramps
Location: I-41 US 10/ WIS 441 Interchange
Schedule: March 2017 to September 2018
Length: 0.865 miles
Cost: $14.7 million
Description of work: This work is part of the WIS 441 Tri-County Expansion Project. The work under this contract shall consist of excavation common, breaker run, base aggregate dense, concrete pavement, HMA pavement, storm sewer, erosion control items, pavement marking, structure polymer overlays, Structures B-70-407, B-70-409, S-70-257, N-70-100, N-70-101, N-70-110 and all incidental items necessary to complete the work as shown on the plans and included in the proposal and contract.
June 5 to June 9: Construction of the bridge piers on the north-to-west ramp will continue. Crews will set rebar and pour concrete at the piers of on the north-to-west bridge. Bridge crews are scheduled to set girders on the east-to-north ramp bridge. Noisewall bases and posts are schedule to be drilled and set on eastbound US 10 from Little Lake Butte des Morts to the Racine Road exit ramp.
June 12 to June 16: Crews will begin forming the deck of the east-to-north bridge. Noisewall bases and posts are schedule to be drilled and set on eastbound US 10 from Little Lake Butte des Morts to the Racine Road exit ramp.
Traffic Impacts: Lane and ramp closures of the I-41 and US 10/WIS 441 interchange will be used as needed for specific operations. Outside lane of southbound I-41 under US 10 will be closed from Monday morning to Wednesday afternoon the week of June 2. The outside lane of eastbound US 10/WIS 441 northbound is scheduled to be closed from 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday night to Friday morning. I-41 north to US 10 east ramp is scheduled to be closed each night of June 6 and 7. I-41 northbound is scheduled to have two right-lanes closed in the interchange the night of June 7, and full closure on June 8 within the I-41/US 10 interchange. I-41 southbound is schedule to have to inside lanes closed on June 6 within the I-41/US 10 interchange. Tayco Street is scheduled to be closed from 6:30 p.m. to 6:30 a.m., June 5 through 7. Full closure of US 10 eastbound and westbound from Racine road exit ramp to Midway road from 8:30 p.m. to 8 a.m. the night of Friday June 9.

WIS 441 Tri-County Expansion Project: Roland Kampo Bridge redecking and I-41/US 10/WIS 441 interchange structures

Schedule: August 2016 to July 2018

Cost: $54 million
Description of work: This work is part of the WIS 441 Tri-County Expansion Project. The work under this contract consists of common excavation, borrow excavation, construction of interchange structures, redecking of bridge, median piers, concrete pavement, HMA pavement, storm sewer and erosion control, and all incidental items necessary to complete the work as shown on the plans.
June 5 to June 9: Continue construction of off alignment piers with the installation of cofferdams, shoring, and piling. Pier reinforcing steel and concrete will be placed as work continues. Curved steel plate girders will be set on the future west US10/WIS 441 to south I-41 ramp structure utilizing closures on ramps and I-41 as needed, to set the structural steel over the collector/distributor lanes. Work will continue decking and reinforcing steel will be placed of the westbound US10/WIS441 structure over Little Lake Butte des Morts. A deck pour will occur early in the week at the east abutment of B-70-061, if it didn’t occur the previous week. Footings, pier stem, and pier cap pours will continue on multiple structures throughout the project. Decking will continue on the B-70-401, future westbound structure over I-41, and begin on the B-70-406 structure, the future west to north ramp structure. Excavation work and placement of breaker run stone will begin as weather permits.
June 12 to June 16: Continue construction of off alignment piers with the installation of cofferdams, shoring, and piling. Pier reinforcing steel and concrete will be placed as work continues. Work will continue decking and reinforcing steel will be placed of the westbound US10/WIS441 structure over Little Lake Butte des Morts. A second deck pour will occur early in the week near the east abutment of B-70-061. Footings, pier stem, and pier cap pours will continue on multiple structures throughout the project. Decking will continue on the B-70-401, future westbound structure over I-41, and begin on the B-70-406 structure, the future west to north ramp structure. The existing structure over I-41 will be demoed starting Monday night, June 12. Traffic restrictions are listed below related to the demo.
Traffic Impacts: The week of June 12 to June 16, there will be the following traffic impacts due to bridge demolition:
June 12 all lanes. (Remove deck over northbound 41)
- Northbound: single 6 p.m., double 8 p.m., full closure 10 p.m., open at 6 a.m.
- Southbound: single 6 p.m., double 9 p.m., full closure 9:30 p.m., open at 5 a.m.
- Southbound to eastbound ramp: 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.
- Westbound: right lane 7 p.m.
- Westbound to southbound ramp: 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
June 13 southbound 41 and collector. (Remove deck over southbound 41)
- Southbound: single 6 p.m., double 9 p.m., full closure 9:30 p.m., open at 5 a.m.
- Southbound to Eastbound ramp: 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.
- Westbound: right lane 7 p.m.
- Westbound to southbound ramp: 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
June 14 the collector. (Remove deck over collector)
- Southbound to eastbound ramp: 8 p.m. to 6 a.m.
- Westbound: right lane 7 p.m.
- Westbound to southbound ramp: 9 p.m. to 5 a.m.
June 15 northbound 41. (Remove structural steel over northbound 41)
- Northbound: single 6 p.m., double 8 p.m., full closure 10 p.m., open at 6 a.m.
There will also be daytime/nighttime lane closures on I-41 so accommodate bridge work. The west US 10/WIS 441 to north I-41 ramp is closed for the majority of the project. There will be various lane, ramp, and mainline closures at different times, throughout the duration of the project to mobilize equipment, build substructures, demo bridges, set girders and strip formwork. Prior notification of those closures will be on website, PCMS boards, news releases and social media, along with guidance to preferred routes.

WIS 441 Tri-County Expansion Project: US 10/WIS 441 Midway Road Prep Work
Location: US 10/WIS 441 from County Road CB to Oneida Street

Description of work: This project will shift traffic onto westbound lanes in preparation for Midway Road interchange construction this summer. The work under this contract consists of common excavation, roadway embankment, base aggregate, HMA pavement, storm sewer, erosion control, pavement marking, and all incidental items necessary to complete the work as shown on the plans and included in the proposal and contract.
June 5 to June 9: Contractor to complete storm sewer installation within the median of US 10/WIS 441 from Racine Road to Appleton Road. Contractor to complete temporary shoring installation along the on-ramp from Midway Road to westbound US 10/WIS 441. Contractor to begin fine grading and preparation for asphalt paving along US 10/ WIS 441 median and outside shoulders from Racine Road to Appleton Road.
June 12 to June 16: Contractor to complete fine grading and preparation for asphalt paving along US 10/ WIS 441 median and outside shoulders from Racine Road to Appleton Road. Contractor to begin asphalt paving along US 10/ WIS 441 median and outside shoulders from Racine Road to Appleton Road. Contractor to complete guardrail removal along US10/WIS 441 eastbound and westbound at Midway Road. Contractor to complete installation of temporary precast concrete barrier wall and temporary crash cushions.
Traffic Impacts: Traffic impacts will be limited to single-lane and ramp closures during nighttime hours.

WIS 441 Tri-County Expansion Project: I-41 from US 10 to County II
Location: town of Menasha
Schedule: July 2016 to May 2017
Length: 0.9 miles
Cost: $13.5 million
Description of work: This work is part of the WIS 441 Tri-County Expansion Project. This project is the addition of lanes along I-41 from US 10 to south of Winchester Road (County II). It includes the widening of the both bridge structures at Green Bay Road and the southbound structure at Winchester Road. It also includes the reconstruction of the northbound on-ramp and both southbound ramps at Winchester Road. New sign structures will be constructed for both northbound and southbound I-41 to accommodate the pavement changes. American Drive will also be realigned to accommodate the additional lane for southbound I-41. Two ponds will be constructed along with this project.
June 5 to June 9: Electrical work and site restoration will continue as needed. The high friction surface treatment and pavement marking began this week along northbound and southbound I-41 near Green Bay Road.
June 9 to June 12: They will continue to work on the final pavement marking near Green Bay Road. They will continue to work on final clean-up of the project.
Traffic Impacts: Lane and ramp closures of the I-41 will be used as needed for specific operations. Southbound I-41 over Green Bay Road will have a permanent, right lane closure. See project website for updated closures and traffic impacts.
