Overview

The aging Water Street Bridge in the city of Eau Claire is currently being replaced. The overall project includes replacing the structure with a new bridge that will be slightly wider to accommodate both bicycles and pedestrians. Additional improvements include:

• Taller railings
• Raised sidewalks for pedestrians
• Six foot on-street bike lanes in each direction
• Decorative lighting matching Thorp Drive
• A light for the bike/pedestrian trail under the bridge
• Scenic overlooks on the northeast and southwest quadrants
• Adding a right turn lane onto 1st Avenue
