Traffic impacts

Lane Closures and Detours:

  • Lane closures will be required on various lanes of US 61 for base patching and milling operations. Temporary Regulatory Speed Limit Reductions will be used in the active work areas. Lane closures will utilize a Digital Speed Reduction System (DSRS) that will notify travelling public of the current speed limit in the work areas of the project. Lane closures will remain in place day, and night as work operation require their use. Please follow and obey the work zone speed limit.
  • Lane closures will be required on WIS 11 for pavement removal, grading, and paving operations. A single-lane automated traffic signal system will be in place at the far east project limit on WIS 11 for a portion of the WIS 11 work area due to restricted working width in that area. We ask that all motorists stay alert in this area for slowed or stopped traffic.
  • Ramp closures will be required to repair the ramps at the WIS 11 and US 61 interchange, the Badger Road interchange with US 61, the Eagle Point Road Interchange with US 61, and the ramps at the split diamond interchange at Kieler. These ramp closures will occur at various times throughout the project. All ramp closures will be accompanied by a corresponding signed detour route. Please pay close attention revised routing at detour signage in the project vicinity.

Update for 10/26 to 11/1:

USH 61
Work:

  • Crews will mill and asphalt pave the mainline and ramp shoulders at the SB exit and SB entrance ramps at the Kieler interchange.
  • Crews will complete concrete approaches and paved shoulders at the NB and SB Kieler structures along the outside shoulders.
  • Crews will continue asphalt paving surface layer between Eagle Point Road and the STH 11 overpass in the inside lanes.
  • All activities are weather dependent which can impact progress.

Traffic:

  • Lane closures will continue along USH 61 NB and SB from the Dickeyville exit and entrance ramps to the STH 11 overpass.
  • Speed Limit 55 mph during work operations daily. Please obey posted speeds.

SOUTHBOUND KIELER INTERCHANGE (EXIT AND ENTRANCE RAMPS)

Work:

  • Crews anticipate milling, asphalt paving, and gravel shouldering the ramp shoulders on 10/29 and 10/30.
  • These ramps will be reopened before closing the northbound ramps.
  • All activities are weather dependent which can impact progress.

Traffic:

  • Ramps will be closed to accommodate shoulder repairs (2 days anticipated).
  • Follow posted Detours

NORTHBOUND KIELER INTERCHANGE (EXIT AND ENTRANCE RAMPS)

Work:

  • Crews anticipate reopening this ramp on Wednesday 10/28/26.
  • All activities are weather dependent which can impact progress.

Traffic:

  • Ramp to be reopened to traffic 10/28/26 (anticipated).
  • Detour not required

SOUTHBOUND EAGLE POINT (EXIT AND ENTRANCE RAMPS)

Work:

  • Ramps are currently open.
  • All activities are weather dependent which can impact progress.

Traffic:

  • Ramps open to traffic.
  • Detour not required.

NORTHBOUND EAGLE POINT (ENTRANCE RAMP)

Work:

  • Ramp is currently closed for asphalt surfacing and shouldering.
  • All activities are weather dependent which can impact progress.

Traffic:

  • Ramps will be closed to accommodate final asphalt surfacing and shouldering. Use Badger Road.
  • Follow posted Detours.

NORTHBOUND STH 11 INTERCHANGE (ENTRANCE RAMP)

Work:

  • Ramp is currently open.
  • All activities are weather dependent which can impact progress.

Traffic:

  • Ramps open to traffic.
  • Detour not required.

BADGER ROAD INTERCHANGE:

Work:

  • Crews may continue inlet construction later in the week.
  • All activities are weather dependent which can impact progress.

Traffic:

  • Badger Road will remain open to traffic (flagging work operations as necessary).
  • The NB Badger Road Exit Ramp (Exit 2) will remain closed for repairs on Badger Road. Access to/from the Maryville Heights area will be via Exit 1, STH 11, to Badger Road. Access to /from points west and north of the Badger Road interchange bridge will be via Badger Road to Eagle Point Road to the SB entrance ramp to USH 61 SB.
  • The SB Badger Road Entrance Ramp will remain closed for repairs on Badger Road. Traffic can follow Badger Road EB to STH 11 to access USH 61 or travel NB and utilize the SB entrance ramp at Eagle Point Road.
  • Detour not required.

Next week: (11/2 to 11/8)

USH 61
Work:

  • Crews will adjust the median guardrail from Eagle Point Road to the STH 11 overpass.
  • Crews will complete shouldering in the median from Eagle Point Road to the STH 11 overpass.
  • Crews will mill and pave the remaining outside shoulders near the Kieler interchange structures.
  • Guardrail will be installed at the Kieler structures on the outside shoulders.
  • All activities are weather dependent which can impact progress.

Traffic:

  • Lane closures will continue along USH 61 NB and SB from the Dickeyville exit and entrance ramps to the STH 11 overpass.
  • Speed Limit 55 mph during work operations daily. Please obey posted speeds.

NORTHBOUND STH 11 INTERCHANGE (ENTRANCE RAMP)

Work:

  • Crews anticipate milling butt joints, asphalt paving, gravel shouldering, and guardrail placement on the ramp from 11/4 to 11/10.
  • All activities are weather dependent which can impact progress.

Traffic:

  • Ramp will be closed to accommodate this construction.
  • Follow the posted Detour.

BADGER ROAD INTERCHANGE:

Work:

  • Crews will complete final shaping and grading of base for asphalt paving along the shoulders.
  • All activities are weather dependent which can impact progress.

Traffic:

  • Badger Road will remain open to traffic (flagging work operations as necessary).
