Traffic impacts

Lane Closures and Detours:

  • Lane closures will be required on various lanes of US 61 for base patching and milling operations. Temporary Regulatory Speed Limit Reductions will be used in the active work areas. Lane closures will utilize a Digital Speed Reduction System (DSRS) that will notify travelling public of the current speed limit in the work areas of the project. Lane closures will remain in place day, and night as work operation require their use. Please follow and obey the work zone speed limit.
  • Lane closures will be required on WIS 11 for pavement removal, grading, and paving operations. A single-lane automated traffic signal system will be in place at the far east project limit on WIS 11 for a portion of the WIS 11 work area due to restricted working width in that area. We ask that all motorists stay alert in this area for slowed or stopped traffic.
  • Ramp closures will be required to repair the ramps at the WIS 11 and US 61 interchange, the Badger Road interchange with US 61, the Eagle Point Road Interchange with US 61, and the ramps at the split diamond interchange at Kieler. These ramp closures will occur at various times throughout the project. All ramp closures will be accompanied by a corresponding signed detour route. Please pay close attention revised routing at detour signage in the project vicinity.

Update for 6/15 to 6/21:

USH 61

Work:

  • Crews will continue structure repairs at the Kieler Interchange structures (CTH H and CTH HHH).
  • Crews will begin structure repairs at the Sandy Hook Road structures.
  • Crews will mill and prepare shoulders for median shoulder widening along USH 61 from Eagle Point Road south to the STH 11 overpass.
  • All activities are weather dependent which can impact progress.

Traffic:

  • Lane closures will continue along USH 61 NB and SB from the Dickeyville exit and entrance ramps to the STH 11 overpass.
  • Speed Limit 55 mph during work operations daily. Please obey posted speeds.

STH 11
Work:

  • Crews will complete seeding and finishing in the STH 11 median as weather allows.

Traffic:

  • Moving operations will be utilized along EB and WB STH 11 for seeding and finishing. Please remain alert for work operations.

EAGLE POINT ROAD INTERCHANGE:

Work:

  • Crews will continue concrete pavement removal and grading operations to repair Eagle Point Road and provide ramp modifications to the northbound entrance ramp to USH 61.
  • All activities are weather dependent which can impact progress.

Traffic:

  • All ramps within the Eagle Point Road interchange were closed on Wednesday June 3, 2026 to expedite removal of pavement in preparation for new asphalt pavement and ramp widening modifications.
  • The work is anticipated to be completed by July 2, 2026, prior to Independence Day holiday weekend. Closures of the ramps will improve safety during construction and reduce the time for completion.
  • Detour routes will be provided to and from Eagle Point Road using Badger Road, STH 11, and USH 61. Please follow all detour route signage.

USH 61
Work:

  • Crews will continue structure repairs at the Sandy Hook Road structures.
  • Crews will pave the temporary median shoulder widening along USH 61 from Eagle Point Road south to the STH 11 overpass.
  • All activities are weather dependent which can impact progress.

  • Lane closures will continue along USH 61 NB and SB from the Dickeyville exit and entrance ramps to the STH 11 overpass.

Work:

  • No work anticipated.

Traffic:

  • No lane closures anticipated.

EAGLE POINT ROAD INTERCHANGE:

Work:

  • Crews will begin final grading and shaping of base aggregate and begin asphalt paving on Eagle Point Road and ramps to and from USH 61.
  • All activities are weather dependent which can impact progress.

Traffic:

  • All ramps within the Eagle Point Road interchange will remain closed to expedite removal of pavement in preparation for new asphalt pavement and ramp widening modifications.
