Traffic impacts

Lane Closures and Detours:

  • Lane closures will be required on various lanes of US 61 for base patching and milling operations. Temporary Regulatory Speed Limit Reductions will be used in the active work areas. Lane closures will utilize a Digital Speed Reduction System (DSRS) that will notify travelling public of the current speed limit in the work areas of the project. Lane closures will remain in place day, and night as work operation require their use. Please follow and obey the work zone speed limit.
  • Lane closures will be required on WIS 11 for pavement removal, grading, and paving operations. A single-lane automated traffic signal system will be in place at the far east project limit on WIS 11 for a portion of the WIS 11 work area due to restricted working width in that area. We ask that all motorists stay alert in this area for slowed or stopped traffic.
  • Ramp closures will be required to repair the ramps at the WIS 11 and US 61 interchange, the Badger Road interchange with US 61, the Eagle Point Road Interchange with US 61, and the ramps at the split diamond interchange at Kieler. These ramp closures will occur at various times throughout the project. All ramp closures will be accompanied by a corresponding signed detour route. Please pay close attention revised routing at detour signage in the project vicinity.

Update for 5/25 to 5/31:

US 61

Work:

  • Crews will resume concrete patching work in the US 61 median from the Eagle Point Road interchange to the WIS 11 overpass.
  • Crews will continue structure repairs at the Kieler Bridges.

Traffic:

  • Median lane closures will continue along US 61 NB and SB from the Dickeyville exit and entrance ramps to the WIS 11 overpass.
  • Speed Limit 55 mph during work operations daily. Please obey posted speeds.
  • No work will be completed on Monday May 25, 2026, in observance of Memorial Day.
  • Work will resume on Tuesday May 26, 2026.

WIS 11
Work:

  • Crews will complete topsoil in the WIS 11 median.
  • Crew will remove and replace the remaining temporary asphalt at WIS 11 and ramp terminals of the exit and entrance ramps from US 61.

Traffic:

  • Moving operations will be utilized along EB and WB WIS 11. Please remain alert for work operations.
  • No work will be completed after noon Friday May 22, 2026 due the upcoming Memorial Day traffic.

 

Next week: (6/1 to 6/7)

US 61
Work:

  • Crews will begin concrete patching work along the outside shoulder of US 61 from the north Keiler interchange to the Dickeyville exit and entrance ramps.
  • Crews will continue structure repairs at the Kieler Bridges and start the Sandy Hook structure repairs on US 61.

Traffic:

  • Median lane closures will continue along US 61 NB and SB from the Dickeyville exit and entrance ramps to the WIS 11 overpass.
  • The US 61 northbound and southbound outside lanes will be closed and traffic will be in the median lanes from the north Keiler interchange to the Dickeyville exit and entrance ramps.
  • Speed Limit 55 mph during work operations daily. Please obey posted speeds.

WIS 11
Work:

  • No work anticipated.

Traffic:

  • No lane closures anticipated.
