Traffic impacts
Lane Closures and Detours:
- Lane closures will be required on various lanes of USH 61 for base patching and milling operations. Temporary Regulatory Speed Limit Reductions will be used in the active work areas. Lane closures will utilize a Digital Speed Reduction System (DSRS) that will notify travelling public of the current speed limit in the work areas of the project. Lane closures will remain in place day and night as work operation require their use. Please follow and obey the work zone speed limit.
- Lane closures will be required on STH 11 for pavement removal, grading , and paving operations. A single-lane automated traffic signal system will be in place at the far east project limit on STH 11 for a portion of the STH 11 work area due to restricted working width in that area. We ask that all motorists stay alert in this area for slowed or stopped traffic.
- Ramp closures will be required to repair the ramps at the STH 11 and USH 61 interchange, the Badger Road interchange with USH 61, the Eagle Point Road Interchange with USH 61, and the ramps at the split diamond interchange at Kieler. These ramp closures will occur at various times throughout the project. All ramp closures will be accompanied by a corresponding signed detour route. Please pay close attention revised routing at detour signage in the project vicinity.
Traffic Operations on WIS 11:
- Staring on Monday August 25, 2025, Eastbound WIS 11 traffic will be shifted to the westbound side of WIS and will operate bidirectionally with westbound. Access will remain operational at the WIS 11, Badger Road, and WIS 35 Intersection (4-way stop).
- Starting Monday August 25, 2025, a temporary traffic signal system will be in place at the far east project limit on WIS 11. Eastbound and westbound WIS 11 traffic will take turns in this single lane area.
- Westbound WIS 11 traffic intending to travel to SB US 61/151must follow the signed and marked detour route as follows:
This Route uses the NB entrance ramp to NB US 61/151, follow NB US 61/151 to Exit 2, use Exit 2 to Badger Road, turn left onto Badger Road, cross-over US 61/151, turn left onto the SB US 61/151 entrance ramp, and proceed to SB US 61/151. (Approx. 2.5-minute tavel time).
- Access to Safety Rest Area 106 will remain through the Labor Day holiday weekend. The Rest Area will close beginning September 2, 2025, after Labor Day and will reopen in late October 2025.
- The following ramps will remain operational:
- Rest Area Exit to US 61/151 SB Slip Ramp
- SB US 61/151 to EB WIS 11 Loop Ramp
- NB US 61/151 to EB WIS 11 and Rest Area
- WB WIS 11 to NB US 61/151 (Includes Detour to SB US 61/151)
Work Operations on WIS 11:
- Starting Monday August 25, 2025, traffic control workers will be present to relocate traffic on eastbound WIS 11 to westbound WIS 11.
- Pavement and shoulder removals will begin along the closed portion of eastbound WIS 11.
- Erosion control will be installed, and guardrail will be removed in the closed portion of eastbound WIS 11.
