Traffic impacts

Lane Closures and Detours:

  • Lane closures will be required on various lanes of US 61 for base patching and milling operations. Temporary Regulatory Speed Limit Reductions will be used in the active work areas. Lane closures will utilize a Digital Speed Reduction System (DSRS) that will notify travelling public of the current speed limit in the work areas of the project. Lane closures will remain in place day, and night as work operation require their use. Please follow and obey the work zone speed limit.
  • Lane closures will be required on WIS 11 for pavement removal, grading, and paving operations. A single-lane automated traffic signal system will be in place at the far east project limit on WIS 11 for a portion of the WIS 11 work area due to restricted working width in that area. We ask that all motorists stay alert in this area for slowed or stopped traffic.
  • Ramp closures will be required to repair the ramps at the WIS 11 and US 61 interchange, the Badger Road interchange with US 61, the Eagle Point Road Interchange with US 61, and the ramps at the split diamond interchange at Kieler. These ramp closures will occur at various times throughout the project. All ramp closures will be accompanied by a corresponding signed detour route. Please pay close attention revised routing at detour signage in the project vicinity.

 

Update for the week of December 15 to 19:

USH 61

Work:

– Crews will continue to place temporary epoxy pavement markings as weather allows.

-Temporary aggregate shoulders will be placed alongside the outside shoulders.

 

Traffic:

-Traffic control will be removed and all lanes and ramps will be opened to traffic for the winter.

 

 

STH 11

Work:

-Crews will continue to place temporary pavement markings as the weather allows.

-Temporary asphaltic surface will be placed to facilitate traffic for the winter.

-Temporary aggregate shouldering will be completed alongside temporary asphalt pavement.

-Permanent pavement marking will be placed in Rest Area 106.

 

Traffic:

-Traffic control will be removed and all lanes opened to traffic following the completion of temporary pavement marking and temporary pavement work.

-Rest Area 106 will remain closed until 12/20/2025, pending permanent pavement marking and weather.
