Traffic impacts

Lane Closures and Detours:

  • Lane closures will be required on various lanes of US 61 for base patching and milling operations. Temporary Regulatory Speed Limit Reductions will be used in the active work areas. Lane closures will utilize a Digital Speed Reduction System (DSRS) that will notify travelling public of the current speed limit in the work areas of the project. Lane closures will remain in place day, and night as work operation require their use. Please follow and obey the work zone speed limit.
  • Lane closures will be required on WIS 11 for pavement removal, grading, and paving operations. A single-lane automated traffic signal system will be in place at the far east project limit on WIS 11 for a portion of the WIS 11 work area due to restricted working width in that area. We ask that all motorists stay alert in this area for slowed or stopped traffic.
  • Ramp closures will be required to repair the ramps at the WIS 11 and US 61 interchange, the Badger Road interchange with US 61, the Eagle Point Road Interchange with US 61, and the ramps at the split diamond interchange at Kieler. These ramp closures will occur at various times throughout the project. All ramp closures will be accompanied by a corresponding signed detour route. Please pay close attention revised routing at detour signage in the project vicinity.

Update for 10/12 to 10/18:

USH 61

Work:

  • Crews will continue slope grading near Sandy Hook Road.
  • Crews will install guardrail at the Sandy Hook Road structures.
  • Crews will begin concrete patch removals and concrete placement on USH 61 at the North Kieler Exit and Entrance ramps.
  • All activities are weather dependent which can impact progress.

Traffic:

  • Lane closures will continue along USH 61 NB and SB from the Dickeyville exit and entrance ramps to the STH 11 overpass. All traffic will be in the inside lane.
  • Traffic will be shifted to the median travel lane between Eagle Point Road and the STH 11 overpass, anticipated on Thursday October 15, 2026, in both NB and Sb travel directions.
  • Speed Limit 55 mph during work operations daily. Please obey posted speeds.

NORTH KIELER INTERCHANGE (NB ENTRANCE)

Work:

  • Crews will continue ramp pavement removals and repairs.
  • All activities are weather dependent which can impact progress.

Traffic:

  • Ramp closed (anticipated 1 week).
  • Follow posted Detours

NORTH KIELER INTERCHANGE (SB EXIT)

Work:

  • Crews will continue ramp pavement removals and repairs.
  • All activities are weather dependent which can impact progress.

BADGER ROAD INTERCHANGE:

Work:

  • Guardrail removal is anticipated later in the week.
  • Badger Road will be remain open under flagging during work operations.
  • All activities are weather dependent which can impact progress.

Traffic:

  • The NB Badger Road Exit Ramp (Exit 2) will remain closed to complete ramp and shoulder milling and asphalt paving. Traffic shall use Exit 1 to EB STH 11 to access Badger Road.
  • The SB Badger Road Entrance Ramp (Entrance 2) will remain closed to complete ramp and shoulder milling and asphalt paving. Use Badger Road south to STH 11 for access to SB USH 61or Badger Road north to Eagle Point Road to USH 61 SB.
  • Please be aware of work activities in this area.

EAGLE POINT ROAD INTERCHANGE:

STH 11 INTERCHANGE:

USH 61
Work:

  • Crews will begin concrete patch removals and concrete placement on USH 61 at the South Kieler Exit and Entrance ramps.
  • Crews will continue the asphalt overlay in the median lanes, shoulders, and ramp along USH 61 from Eagle Point Road to the STH 11 overpass in both the SB and NB travel directions.
  • All activities are weather dependent which can impact progress.

Traffic:

  • Lane closures will continue along USH 61 NB and SB from the Dickeyville exit and entrance ramps to the STH 11 overpass. All NB and SB traffic will be in the inside lane north of Eagle Point Road to the north project limit and will shift to the outside lane south of Eagle Point Road south to the STH 11 overpass.
  • Speed Limit 55 mph during work operations daily. Please obey posted speeds.

NORTH KIELER INTERCHANGE (NB ENTRANCE)

Traffic:

  • Badger Road is anticipated to be closed from Flamingo Lane to Northview Drive the week of October 12, 2026, until October 26, 2026, for guardrail removal and repairs on Badger Road.
  • The NB Badger Road Exit Ramp (Exit 2) will remain closed for repairs on Badger Road. Access to/from the Maryville Heights area will be via Exit 1, STH 11, to Badger Road. Access to /from points west and north of the Badger Road interchange bridge will be via Badger Road to Eagle Point Road to the SB entrance ramp to USH 61 SB.
  • The SB Badger Road Entrance Ramp will remain closed for repairs on Badger Road. (Exceptions as follows: Except during the short-term closures of the Eagle Point Road SB Entrance Ramp to USH 61 for asphalt paving).

EAGLE POINT ROAD INTERCHANGE:

Work:

  • Crews will complete lower layer asphalt paving and gravel shouldering in the NB USH 61 Entrance ramp from Eagle Point Road.
