Traffic impacts
Lane Closures and Detours:
- Lane closures will be required on various lanes of US 61 for base patching and milling operations. Temporary Regulatory Speed Limit Reductions will be used in the active work areas. Lane closures will utilize a Digital Speed Reduction System (DSRS) that will notify travelling public of the current speed limit in the work areas of the project. Lane closures will remain in place day, and night as work operation require their use. Please follow and obey the work zone speed limit.
- Lane closures will be required on WIS 11 for pavement removal, grading, and paving operations. A single-lane automated traffic signal system will be in place at the far east project limit on WIS 11 for a portion of the WIS 11 work area due to restricted working width in that area. We ask that all motorists stay alert in this area for slowed or stopped traffic.
- Ramp closures will be required to repair the ramps at the WIS 11 and US 61 interchange, the Badger Road interchange with US 61, the Eagle Point Road Interchange with US 61, and the ramps at the split diamond interchange at Kieler. These ramp closures will occur at various times throughout the project. All ramp closures will be accompanied by a corresponding signed detour route. Please pay close attention revised routing at detour signage in the project vicinity.
Update for the week of December 9 to 16:
USH 61
Work:
– Crews will place temporary pavement markings on USH 61 as weather allows.
– Cold weather and snow have slowed progress.
Traffic:
– Inside lane closures will continue along USH 61 NB and SB.
– Continuous ramp closure at the SB USH 61 exit to EB STH 11.
– Detour of SB USH 61 to EB STH 11: Traffic shall follow USH 61 south to Dubuque, Iowa and exit at 11th Steet, cross under USH 61 at 11th Street, return to NB USH 61 using the NB entrance ramp to USH 61, follow USH 61 NB, and Exit to EB STH 11 at ramp.
– Detour of WB STH 11 to SB USH 61: Traffic will continue to use NB USH 61 to Badger Road Exit, crossing over USH 61, and returning SB onto USH 61 SB.
– Speed limit 55 mph during work operations daily.
STH 11
Work:
-Crews will complete the remaining concrete pavement in the intersection of Badger Road, STH 11, and STH 35.
-Crews will complete the remaining concrete pavement in the STH11 intersection with the USH 61 exit and entrance ramps.
Traffic:
– Traffic will remain shifted to their respective eastbound and westbound lanes on STH 11. Traffic will be in the outermost lane in each travel direction.
– Please reduce speed and be alert to the revised traffic patterns.
– Detour of WB STH 11 to SB USH 61: Traffic will continue to use NB USH 61 to Badger Road Exit, crossing over USH 61, and returning SB onto USH 61 SB.
– Dickeyville Weigh Station closed until mid-December 2025.

Work:
– Crews will continue to place temporary epoxy pavement markings as weather allows.
Traffic:
– Various lane closures will be required for temporary pavement marking along USH 61 NB and SB.
– Ramp closures will continue on SB USH 61 exit to EB STH 11.
– Detour of SB USH 61 to EB STH 11: Traffic shall continue to follow USH 61 south to Dubuque, Iowa and exit at 11th Steet, cross under USH 61 at 11th Street, return to NB USH 61 using the NB entrance ramp to USH 61, follow USH 61 NB, and Exit to EB STH 11 at ramp.
– Detour of WB STH 11 to SB USH 61: Traffic will continue to use NB USH 61 to Badger Road Exit, crossing over USH 61, and returning SB onto USH 61 SB.
