Project Overview

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is replacing eight structures along US 151 and WIS 55 in Calumet County. This website provides construction information related to construction operations, schedule, traffic impacts, detour routes, and information for businesses affected by road closures.
- Beginning August 18, 2025, WIS 55 will be closed to through traffic between Enterprise Street and School Street in Stockbridge.
- Beginning September 2, 2025, US 151 will be closed to through traffic between Indian Road and County HHH in Brothertown.
Project location
- Work will be conducted on eight structures on US 151 and WIS 55 between the South County Line to the north village limits of Stockbridge in Calumet County, Wisconsin.
Project benefits
The eight culverts along the project are deteriorating as shown in the photos below. If not replaced, the structures will continue to deteriorate causing additional future maintenance costs and could compromise safety by not draining water off the roadway. The new structures will help properly drain water from the roadway surface and decrease future maintenance costs.
Project improvements
This project will remove deteriorating culverts and structures and replace them with new structures
- Structures consist of one pipe culvert, six box culverts, and one new bridge structure.
- Replace existing guardrail within the limits of the culvert replacements.
- View individual culvert/structure construction detail exhibits (multiple page pdf)
Construction schedule
Work will begin August 18, 2025, and is expected to finish in the fall of 2026.
Traffic impacts
Work will be conducted under a full roadway closure and through traffic will be detoured. Please check back for specific dates of closures.
- Access to properties, businesses, homes and first responders will be maintained during construction.
US 151 will be closed and detoured from September 2, 2025 to mid-November 2025.
- Detour uses County HHH and County C
WIS 55 (work on structures north of County E) will be closed and detoured from August 18, 2025, to mid-November 2025.
- Detour uses County E to WIS 114
WIS 55 (work on structures south of County E) will close in 2026
- Detour uses US 151 to County E
Temporary Business Signing
Temporary business signing may be placed during the detoured portion of the project by filling out a WisDOT temporary business signing permit. The permit is free. All temporary business signing needs approval via the permit before placement to ensure it is in a safe location and do not pose a visual distraction or traffic hazard. Costs associated with creating the temporary signing are the responsibility of the business. Please keep the following items in mind regarding business signing:
- Temporary business signings cannot be placed on traffic control devices or state signs.
- WisDOT encourages businesses to team up and have multiple businesses listed on one sign structure versus several individual signs. This makes it easier for travelers to identify signs and find their destination.
Temporary Business Sign permits are available as a fillable-form WORD document or standard pdf file download. You can also request one from any of the contacts below via email or phone.
- Go to WisDOT Temporary Signing Permit Application (with instructions)
Please email or mail the completed form Kristen Berg, P.E., WisDOT Northeast Region, 944 Vanderperren Way, Green Bay, WI 54304.
WisDOT Resources for Businesses
WisDOT recognizes businesses located in work zones have special needs. While signing and other marketing/advertising during the construction is up to the business, WisDOT has business resources available through its “In This Together” website to assist businesses with planning for construction closures and minimizing the impact of construction.
- For more information, please visit WisDOT’s In This Together website
