Traffic Impacts

Motorists will encounter single-lane closures controlled by flagging operations from Elk Mound through Colfax.

  • Construction activities will cease by noon today, and there will be no lane restrictions during the holiday weekend.
  • Single-lane closures resume Monday, July 6.
  • Starting Tuesday, July 7, the bridge carrying US 12 over WIS 29 northwest of Elk Mound will be closed for the replacement of concrete approach slabs.
    • The interchange ramps will remain open.
    • Traffic will be detoured via County H and County HH.
    • The closure is anticipated to be in place through July 20.
  • From July 20-25, WIS 40 will be closed south of 855th Street south of Colfax for culvert pipe replacement.
    •  Traffic will be detoured via WIS 29, I-94, WIS 25 and WIS 170.
  • Currently anticipated to occur in August, WIS 40 is expected to be closed for a week for a railroad crossing replacement in Colfax.
    • Traffic will be detoured via 5th Avenue, Dunn Street and Railroad Avenue.
