I-94, St. Croix River Bridges

St. Croix County

Traffic Impacts

I-94 remains open to traffic, but motorists will encounter the following on:

  • Eastbound I-94:
    • Three lanes are open to traffic on the eastbound bridge; lanes are restricted to 11 feet in width.
  • Westbound I-94:
    • Two lanes are open to traffic, but one lane has been shifted onto the eastbound bridge.
      • The traffic split begins near the 11th Street overpass.
    • Westbound I-94 will be reduced to a single lane east of the Carmichael Road interchange (exit 2) from 9 tonight to 5 a.m. Saturday, July 25 to complete concrete patching between the Carmichael interchange and the St. Croix River Bridge.
      • This closure also is expected to be in place from 9 p.m. Monday, July 27, to 5 a.m. Tuesday, July 28 and possibly Tuesday night to Wednesday (July 29) morning.

Construction on the westbound bridge is almost complete, and traffic is expected to be switched during nighttime hours Monday through Wednesday, July 27-29. Once the traffic switch is complete:

  • The westbound I-94 bridge will carry two lanes of westbound traffic and two lanes of eastbound traffic.
  • The eastbound bridge will carry one lane of through traffic and a ramp lane.
