Project Details
This project will resurface and improve WIS 20 from 90th Street to WIS 31 in Racine County. Construction will start mid-March and the entire project is scheduled to be completed by late fall.
Segment 1: 90th Street to Oakes Road
The WIS 20 project will improve approximately 1 mile of roadway from 90th Street to Oakes Road including:
- Resurfacing pavement by milling the existing asphalt and overlaying with new asphalt.
- Bridge rehabilitation of the bridges over Willow Road and the UP Railroad including bridge overlays and steel girder painting.
Traffic Impacts and Detours
- Long-term lane closures of WIS 20 will take place from 90th Street to Oakes Road from approximately early April to late fall.
- The WIS 20 Eastbound Exit Ramp to Stuart Road/Willow Road will be closed during the project.
- A detour will be posted utilizing WIS 20, to 90th Street, to the North Frontage Road, to Willow Road.
- The Wis 20 Eastbound Entrance Ramp from Willow Road will be closed during the project
- A detour will be posted utilizing Willow Road, to the North Frontage Road, to Oakes Road, to WIS 20.
- Access to local residences and businesses will be maintained.
Segment 2: Oakes Road to WIS 31
The WIS 20 project will improve approximately 1.6 miles of roadway from Oakes Road to WIS 31 including:
- Resurfacing pavement by milling the existing asphalt and overlaying with new asphalt.
- Replacing existing traffic signals with new monotube signal poles at Oakes Road, Sunnyslope Drive, Emmertsen Road, and Village Center Drive. The traffic signal loop detectors at Sycamore Avenue will also be updated.
- Replacing pedestrian accommodations for improved safety and accessibility.
- Minor box culvert repair work at the Pike River.
Traffic Impacts and Detours
- Long-term single and double lane closures of WIS 20 will take place from Oakes Road to WIS 31 , from approximately mid March to late fall.
- There will be a short-term full roadway closure of Westbound WIS 20 followed by a short-term full roadway closure of Eastbound WIS 20 later this construction season.
- A detour will be posted during the short-term full roadway closure utilizing County V, to WIS 11, to WIS 31
- Access to local residences and businesses will be maintained.
