I-43 Rock Freeway Improvements (WIS 164 to Moorland Rd)

Project Details

This project will resurface approximately six (6) miles of the I-43 Rock Freeway between WIS 164 in the Village of Big Bend and Moorland Road in the City of New Berlin.

Other improvements will include:

  • Repairing box culverts and retaining walls
  • Various drainage improvements
  • Resurface Moorland Road Park and Ride
  • Replacing High Friction Surface Treatments at the roundabouts at Racine Avenue/County Y
  • Replacing signs and pavement markings within the project limits

Traffic Impacts:

  • Construction work along I-43 will be performed during nighttime hours with single lane closures. The speed limit will be reduced to 55 mph when construction activities are taking place.
  • The work along the Racine Avenue/County Y roundabouts will be performed overnight utilizing intermittent full closures.
  • Access to residents, businesses and emergency services will be coordinated and maintained throughout construction.

Schedule:

Construction is tentatively scheduled to begin in spring 2024 and be completed by fall 2024. All work is weather dependent and subject to change.
