WIS 100 (Mayfair Road) Bridge Replacement and Resurfacing

Project Details

This WisDOT project will make various roadway improvements along WIS 100 (Mayfair Road/Lovers Lane) between Burleigh Street and Silver Spring Drive in Milwaukee County. The WIS 100 bridge structures over the Menomonee River will also be replaced as part of this project.

Project Improvements:

  • Reconstruct the two bridge structures over the Menomonee River
  • Base patching and roadway repairs
  • Resurface WIS 100 within project limits (Burleigh Street to Silver Spring Drive)
  • Update curb ramps to meet ADA standards
  • Traffic signal upgrades, new signing, and new pavement markings

Schedule and Traffic Impacts:

Utility gas work is scheduled be begin in early August 2026: During utility gas work, motorists can expect WIS 100 lane closures between Burleigh Street and Capitol Drive. Traffic will be maintained in both directions of WIS 100 during utility work.

Bridge replacement work is scheduled to begin in September 2026 and continue for approximately one (1) year: During bridge replacement work, WIS 100 will be impassable at the Menomonee River. WIS 100 will be closed to through traffic from Burleigh Street to Capitol Drive (WIS 190). Local access to businesses, parks, and residences will be maintained.

  • Note: Bridge replacement work will not begin until after the I-41 rehabilitation project, between Burleigh Street and Silver Spring Drive, is complete.

Milling and paving work is scheduled to being in 2027: Motorists can anticipate various northbound and southbound lane closures during milling and paving operations. The entire WIS 100 corridor, between Burleigh Street and Silver Spring Drive, will be resurfaced.

This project is scheduled for completion in fall 2027. All work is weather dependent and subject to change.

Detours and Alternate Routes:

During bridge replacement work over the Menomonee River, the posted detour will utilize Burleigh Street, I-41, and Capitol Drive (WIS 190).

  • Note: Bridge replacement work will not begin until after the I-41 rehabilitation project, between Burleigh Street and Silver Spring Drive, is complete.

Alternate routes to access I-41 include North Avenue, Hampton Avenue, and Silver Spring Drive.
