Project Details
Starting in late April, the WIS 36 project will improve approximately 5 miles of WIS 36 from WIS 100 to 51st Street including:
- Resurfacing pavement by milling the existing asphalt and overlaying with new asphalt.
- Structure repair work including repair work on 2 box culverts, repair work on the Scout Lake Pedestrian Bridge over WIS 36 and resealing the southbound WIS 36 bridge over the Root River.
- Improving pedestrian accommodations by installing new sidewalk on the east side of WIS 36 from WIS 100 to Rawson Avenue and improving curb ramps throughout the project limits.
Traffic Impacts and Detours
WIS 36 will remain open to traffic during construction with the following traffic impacts:
- Stage 1 will include long-term single lane closures from WIS 100 to Rawson Avenue
- Stage 2 will include long-term single lane closures from Rawson Avenue to 51st Street.
- Short term closures of the WIS 36 entrance/exit ramps to/from Rawson Avenue and 76th Street, will take place. Alternate routes will be required.
- Access to local residences and businesses will be maintained.
The project is scheduled to be completed by late fall.
