WIS 26 (Milton Avenue)

Janesville, Rock County

Project Overview

The purpose of the project is to repair and overlay the deteriorated pavement with asphalt as well as repair the exposed concrete at Memorial Drive that is cracked with joint deterioration. The proposed roadway widths will remain the same as the existing roadway widths. The intent of this project is to improve the riding surface in anticipation for a full reconstruction of the roadway in a future project.

The project will also include the following improvements:

  • Reconstructing the curb ramps and adjacent sidewalk that are not compliant with current American with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards throughout the project corridor. Right of way and temporary grading easements will be required to accommodate the proposed curb ramp improvement locations at each intersection throughout the project corridor.
  • Replace the traffic signals at the intersections of Centerway and Mount Zion Avenue with WIS 26.
  • Upgrade the traffic signals at the intersections of Memorial Drive, Black Bridge Road and Kennedy/Randolph Road with WIS 26.
  • Replace deteriorated brick and block storm sewer structures with pre-cast structures along the project corridor.
  • Replace or line deteriorated clay storm sewer pipe within the project corridor.
  • Reconstruct the right turn lane from Centerway to Milton Avenue to accommodate City of Janesville fire trucks.
