The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) will resurface 15.77 miles of WIS 21 between the City of Sparta east limit and Emerson Road. The roadway is aged and deteriorated with heavy cracking and rutting in the wheel tracks. Secondary purposes will address deficient beam guard and high turning movements around Fort McCoy.

Improvements include:

• Resurfacing
• Beam guard replacement
• Construction of a median turn lane
• Widening of shoulders
