WisDOT plans to improve the pavement conditions, improve ride quality and safety.  This project addresses aged and deteriorated pavement that has alligator, longitudinal and traverse cracking.  This project impacts 7.8 miles between West Salem and the La Crosse/Jackson County Line.

The project will include a closure to through traffic for a portion of the project with a detour to allow for replacement of culvert pipes.  Only one cross road culvert will be worked on at a time to allow for local access to local properties from either end of the project.

Proposed improvements include:

• Pavement milling and resurfacing with asphaltic pavement
• Repair or replacement on 7 culverts
• Repair of 1 box culvert
• Placement of 1.34 miles of seal coat for enhanced roadway safety
• Repair and replacement of guard rail
