Traffic impacts/detours
Stage 1
Southbound US 51 traffic will be restricted to the inside travel lane. The existing southbound left-turn lane will remain in use. Northbound traffic will continue to use the existing travel lanes.
- US 51 will be closed to through traffic for one evening between 7 p.m. and 5 a.m. to install a storm sewer crossing. Traffic will be detoured during this closure.
Cranston Road and East Weirick will remain open during this stage.
The existing sidewalk along the east side of US 51 will be maintained for pedestrian use.
Stage 2
Southbound and northbound US 51 traffic will be restricted to one 12-foot travel lane in each direction.
Left-turn movements from US 51 will be prohibited at driveway locations within the project limits and at the East Henderson Avenue, Cranston Road, and East Weirick Avenue intersections.
Cranston road will be closed for the duration of this stage.
The sidewalk along the east side of US 51 will be closed for a portion of this stage. A pedestrian detour route will be provided.
Stage 3
Southbound and northbound US 51 traffic will be restricted to one 12-foot travel lane in each direction.
Left-turn movements from US 51 will be prohibited at driveway locations within the project limits and at the East Henderson Avenue, Cranston Road, and East Weirick Avenue intersections.
Cranston road will be closed for the duration of this stage. East Henderson Avenue and East Weirick Avenue will remain open to traffic. Left-turn access from East Henderson Avenue and East Weirick Avenue will be restricted.
The newly constructed sidewalk along the east side of US 51 will be maintained for pedestrian use.
