Upcoming Construction Operations (Week of 7/1/2024): No work will occur Thursday through Sunday for the holiday weekend*

  • Storm sewer installation will continue on the south end between Wolcott St and Nicolet St.
  • Utility manhole adjustments will be made on the south portion of the project so the concrete paving crews can start their work the following week.
  • Excavation will begin on the north side starting from the Rock River bridge heading north to Rockport Rd. This operation will then jump to McKinley St and move south.
  • Looking ahead a couple of weeks, the paving contractor is scheduled to begin paving the south end of the project after the 4th of July.

Traffic Updates:

  • In an effort to provide better access to the west side of Center Ave north of the Rock River, Riverside St to the west has been opened temporarily for Stage 1. There will be planned closures of the intersection for paving operations. Notification of these closures will be provided in this weekly update when possible.
  • The Rock River bridge will reopen tomorrow, Friday June 28, in the early morning hours.
  • See US 51 detour attachment
  • Stage 1 is in effect. Traffic will be able to cross the bridge in both directions between Delavan Drive and Riverside St. See Stage 1 UPDATED Attachment.

Resident Access:

  • Operations such as road grading, pavement/driveway apron removal, or trenching for underground utilities will require brief instances where driveways may be blocked or inaccessible. Please bear with the crews as these are typically moving operations. Please exercise patience with the crews and talk with an inspector or worker if access is needed immediately. They will work to provide access as quickly as possible. They will not leave driveways inaccessible overnight or for long periods of time.
  • Operations involving new concrete pavement, curb & gutter, driveway aprons, and sidewalk will require a few days of curing time before it can be driven on. The contractor will be notifying residents and businesses ahead of these operations to make arrangements while the concrete is curing.
  • If access is a concern during removals or water main work, please consider parking on a side street for the short time work is occurring in your immediate area.

Local Business Access

  • As a general reminder, all businesses along the corridor, or adjacent to the corridor are still open and greatly appreciate your business. Especially during construction when the route to the businesses has changed.
  • Be sure to contact the businesses ahead of time to find the best route there.
  • Riverside St has been temporarily opened during Stage 1. This may close on short notice for a short period of time to perform work in the intersection.
