Current Construction Operations:

Asphalt Paving occurred prior to Thanksgiving
Final topsoil placement occurred prior to Thanksgiving
Pavement Markings were placed late last week after clearing the snow earlier in the week.

Upcoming Construction Operations:

Crews anticipate finishing the pavement markings this week
Crews anticipate installing the remaining signs on the project this week.
End of next week (12/18/25 end of day), anticipating opening the intersection fully to traffic.

Traffic Updates:

Please be aware, the traffic pattern has changed slightly as of today 12/8/25. Southbound Traffic has been shifted to the Southbound side of US 51, and Northbound and Southbound are on their respective side of the road. The Eastbound and Westbound movements on Milwaukee Street and Court will remain closed to traffic until later next week. This will facilitate the completion of the pavement markings and installation of signage this week.
- Please drive with caution through work zone with construction activities continuing.

Local Business Access:

As a general note, all businesses near the intersection, or in the area surrounding the intersection are still open and greatly appreciate your business. Especially during construction when the route to the businesses has changed.
Be sure to contact the businesses ahead of time to find the best route there.

Construction tentatively begins: March 24, 2025

Anticipated completion: December 18, 2025

Traffic impacts

Us 51 intersection will be constructed in stages.

Stage 1: March 24 – July 3
- Full closure of the US 51 intersection. Detour utilizes US 14, I-39 and WIS 11.
Stage 2: July 4 – December 18
- US 51 open to one lane of traffic in both directions.
