The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) will replace the pavement on 0.239 miles of US 51 from just north of DeWitt Street to Pleasant Street to address deteriorating pavement conditions. WisDOT will work in conjunction with a local utility replacement project that the City of Portage is planning. After the utility project is complete, the WisDOT project will begin. Both projects have the same begin/end limits and will be completed in the same construction year.

WisDOT project improvements include:

• 6-inches of new asphalt pavement
• Upgrade curb ramps to meet ADA compliance
• Traffic signal modifications at the WIS 33/Cook Street intersection – pedestrian push buttons meeting ADA compliance
• Update pavement markings
