Project Overview
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) will begin work on four miles of US 10/WIS 114 in Calumet County. This website provides construction information regarding the proposed improvement scope, schedule, traffic impacts, and information for businesses in a work zone
Project location
The project is located on 4.1 miles of US 10 between WIS 114 in the city of Menasha and County N in the village of Harrison, Calumet County, Wisconsin. There are two projects to be constructed concurrently Each project is identified by a unique project ID below:
- Project ID 1500-49-60: This work will take place between US 10 and Firelane 7
- Project ID 1500-49-61: This work will take place between Firelane 7 to County N
- The Park & Ride at County N is included in this work zone.

Project purpose and need
The existing concrete pavement is deteriorating with cracking throughout. The roadways were last reconstructed in the early 1990s. Deterioration is also occurring on the asphalt shoulders, guardrails, culverts, and at the County N Park & Ride. Curb ramps do not meet Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards, posing an injury risk to pedestrians using canes, wheelchairs, walkers, etc.
- For historical project design information, please see the US 10/WIS 114 Design website.
Proposed improvements
This is a resurfacing-level improvement that includes the following construction operations:
- Repair and grind concrete pavement from WIS 114 to Fire Lane 7 to improve driving conditions
- Repair concrete pavement and place an asphalt overlay from Fire Lane 7 to County N
- Resurface all asphalt shoulders on US 10
- Replace spot sections of curb and gutter
- Upgrade curb ramps to meet ADA standards at County LP and Oneida Street, as required
- Replace guardrails to meet current standards
- Repair drainage features (cleaning culverts, replacing endwalls, minor ditch grading and one culvert replacement)
- Install new pavement marking and replace shoulder rumble strips to maintain safety
- Resurface the asphalt pavement at the County N park and ride
Anticipated benefits
This project will deliver significant safety, operational, and accessibility improvements to a heavily traveled corridor.
- By repairing and grinding the deteriorating concrete pavement, applying an asphalt overlay where needed, and resurfacing the asphalt shoulders, the project will provide a smoother, more comfortable ride while reducing vehicle wear and driver fatigue.
- Replacement of outdated guardrails to current standards, installation of new pavement markings, and refreshed shoulder rumble strips will enhance overall roadway safety and help prevent run-off-road incidents.
- Upgrading curb ramps to meet ADA standards will substantially improve accessibility and safety for pedestrians, including those using wheelchairs, walkers, or canes.
- Drainage improvements will reduce the risk of flooding and pavement undermining.
- Collectively, these upgrades will extend the service life of the pavement and associated infrastructure well beyond the early 1990s reconstruction, lower long-term maintenance costs, support reliable travel for commuters and freight, and improve the functionality of the County N Park & Ride facility for the benefit of the surrounding communities.
Construction is expected to start June 8, 2026, and finish in fall of 2026.
Traffic impacts
This project will have full closures, lane closures, median closures, and lane shifts. US 10 will remain open to traffic for the majority of the construction using single-lane closures and flagging operations except for the following full closures:
- US 10/WIS 114 ramps will have roughly a three-week CLOSURE AND DETOUR to complete pavement repairs.
- Detour will follow County N and US 10 during the closure.
- View detour route on a map (pdf)
- South Oneida St./Fire Lane 1 will be CLOSED for two-weeks to complete pavement repairs and traffic signal work.
- Access will be maintained to businesses.
- The County Road N Park and Ride will close for four days.
- Please check back for specific dates/times of closures.
Business Resource: WisDOT’s In This Together program
WisDOT recognizes businesses located in work zones or impacted by detour routes have special needs. WisDOT’s In This Together program is offered to business, organizations and
community leaders as an idea source as they plan for road construction in their area. It includes promotional examples, case studies and a specially designed information for businesses regarding planning ahead, keeping customers informed, and temporary business signage during road closures.
Temporary business signing
Temporary business signing may be placed by filling out a WisDOT business signing permit. All temporary business signing needs approval via the permit before placement to ensure it is in a safe location and does not pose a visual distraction or traffic hazard. The temporary business signing permit is free.

- Please email or mail the free permit to any of the contacts below.
Project contacts and field office
This project will have a dedicated construction project field office and construction project leader. For construction-related questions, please contact the construction project leader. For all other questions, please contact the WisDOT project manager.
