During construction:

• The WIS 29/50th Avenue interchange will be closed.
  • Traffic will be detoured via County J and County X.
• In addition, 50th Avenue will be closed between 160th and 171 streets.
  • Traffic will be detoured using 160th Street, 40th Avenue, County J and County X.
  • Access to local residences and businesses will be maintained throughout construction.
• The County J and 50th Avenue intersection will remain open through construction using temporary pavement and flagging to direct motorists through the work zone.
• The contractor expects to close 50th Avenue March 10.

Here are additional traffic impacts for the bridge replacement project by construction stage:

• During stage 1, removal of the bridge deck and girders and partial removal of shoulder piers will result in a maximum of four full closures of WIS 29 between 9 p.m. and 6 a.m. Traffic will be detoured via County X and County J.
• During stage 2, demolition of the pier in the median and construction of new bridge piers will be completed with inside shoulder closures on east- and westbound WIS 29. In addition, the inside lanes of WIS 29 will be closed during daytime working hours for the delivery of equipment and materials, installation of concrete barrier wall and access to the highway median.
• During stage 3, removal of the remainder of the shoulder piers and construction of bridge abutments and mechanically stabilized earth walls will result in closure of the outside lanes on WIS 29.
• During stage 4, setting girders on the new bridge will require a maximum of four overnight full closures of WIS 29. Constructing the bridge deck will result in shoulder closures on WIS 29, and stripping the bridge deck will require temporary single-lane closures.

For the roundabout construction project:

• During stage 1:
  • County J: Open to traffic on existing roadway.
  • 50th Avenue: Closed fully west of 171st Street. Open to local traffic between 171st Street and County J and from east of County J to 174th Street.
  • 171st Street: Open to traffic.
• During stage 2a:
  • County J: Open to traffic on a temporary roadway.
  • 50th Avenue: Closed fully west of 171st Street; open to local traffic between 171st Street and County J on temporary roadway; open to local traffic east of County J to 174th Street on existing roadway; motorists will encounter lane closures controlled by flagging as the new 50th Avenue is constructed.
  • 171st Street: Motorists will encounter lane closures controlled by flagging operations to construct the intersection at 50th Avenue.
  • Frontage road: Closed to traffic.
• During stage 2b:
  • County J: Open to traffic on a temporary roadway.
  • 50th Avenue: Closed fully west of 171st Street; open to local traffic between 171st Street and County J on temporary roadway; open to local traffic east of County J to 174th Street on existing roadway; motorists will encounter lane closures controlled by flagging as the new 50th Avenue is constructed.
  • 171st Street: Open to traffic.
  • Frontage road: Open to traffic.
• During stage 3:
  • County J: Open to traffic on a temporary roadway.
  • 50th Avenue: Closed fully west of 171st Street; open to local traffic between 171st Street and
    County J on new pavement; and open to local traffic east of County J to 174th Street on new pavement.
  • 171st Street: Open to traffic.
  • Frontage road: Open to traffic.
• During stage 4:
  • County J: Open to traffic on new pavement; motorists might encounter lane closures controlled by flagging.
  • 50th Avenue: Full closure west of 171st Street; open to local traffic between 171st Street and
