Moorland Road to Hale Interchange

Project Overview

This is a perpetuation project along I-43 in Waukesha and Milwaukee Counties from Moorland Road to the Hale Interchange.

Project Purpose and Need
The purpose of the proposed project is to address deteriorating pavement conditions and extend the pavement life of the corridor, preserve the condition and extend the service life of the existing bridge decks, and address safety and drainage needs.

Roadway Improvements

    • Resurfacing of I-43 between Moorland Road and the Hale Interchange with base patching
      • Including on/off ramps at Layton Avenue and WIS 100
    • Install High Friction Surface Treatment
    • Moorland Road Roundabout at I-43 southbound on/off ramps
      • I-43 northbound at WIS 100
      • I-43 southbound off-ramp to WIS 100
    • Repair approach pavement at I-43 over Moorland Road and I-43 southbound over WIS 100
    • Replacement of two culvert pipes along I-43 at 116th Street

Structural Improvements

    • I-43 northbound off-ramp to Layton Avenue over I-43 southbound: Bridge deck replacement and thin polymer overlay
      • Scheduled to reopen Wednesday, October 19
    • I-43 northbound on-ramp over Moorland Road: Bridge parapet repair
    • Sunny Slope Road over I-43: Bridge deck thin polymer overlay
    • Box culvert wing wall repair/replacement under I-43 west of Moorland Road
    • Box culvert wing wall replacement under I-43 west of Beloit Road
