WIS 96 will be closed and detoured for culvert and storm sewer repairs. Check back from specific dates of closures.

  • BEGINS MAY 20, 2024: Eight-week closure of WIS 96 between WIS 55 and County Road U for culvert pipe replacements in rural areas.

    • WIS 96 will be OPEN to businesses and properties in the closed portion of the highway.
  • BEGINS AFTER FIRST CLOSURE. Eight-week closure of WIS 96 between County U and County D for storm sewer repairs within the village of Wrightstown.
  • This detour is for traffic traveling through the closed portion of WIS 96.
    • WIS 96 will be OPEN to businesses and properties in the detoured portion of the highway.
  • Lane closures with flagging operations will be used to resurface the roadway.
    • Motorists may encounter brief delays during flagging.
  • Shoulder and sidewalk closures will be needed for curb ramp improvements and repair work.

Project benefits

The purpose of the project is to improve the deteriorating pavement and drainage structures on WIS 96 to extend the roadway’s service life and upgrade other roadway deficiencies. Field reviews of culvert pipes showed several culvert pipes in need of repair or replacement. Televised storm sewer identified failing storm sewer joints, blockage of water, or crumbling structures in several locations. There are spot locations of deteriorating curb/gutter and sidewalk. Multiple curb ramps along the project are currently not Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliant.

Temporary Business Signing and Business Resources

Temporary business signing may be placed during the detoured portion of the project by filling out a WisDOT business signing permit. All temporary business signing needs approval via the permit before placement to ensure it is in a safe location and does not pose a visual distraction or traffic hazard.

The temporary business signing permit is free. Costs associated with creating the temporary sign are the responsibility of the business. The permit is available as a fillable-form WORD document or pdf below, or you can request one from the project contacts below.
