This project will resurface East Frontage Road and West Frontage Road along I-94, between Northwestern Avenue and WIS 11 in Racine County. The project will improve the the ride quality of nine miles of roadway, as well as make guardrail repairs, add new pavement markings and rumble strips, and repair and reopen the WIS 11 Park & Ride Station.

Traffic Impacts/Detours:

East and West Frontage Roads will be closed from late-April to mid-September with detours posted and local access maintained. Construction will be completed in two stages:

Stage 1: East Frontage Road to close between WIS 11 and County K; West Frontage Road will remain open

Stage 2: West Frontage Road to close between WIS 11 and County K; East Frontage Road will remain open

Additionally, the Spring Street Bridge above I-41 will close briefly for intersection repairs.

Park & Ride Closure

The WIS 11 park & ride will be closed beginning in late July 2023 for resurfacing, lighting upgrades and signage updates. It will remain closed until September. Anyone who uses the park & ride is being asked to relocate all parked vehicles by July 24, 2023. The nearest alternative park & ride is located on WIS 20 near West Frontage Road.
