This WisDOT project will resurface and make improvements to approximately 2.6 miles of WIS 59 and WIS 89 in the city of Whitewater in Walworth County. Work will be completed between Willis Ray Road and the Walworth/Jefferson County line.

Project improvements:

• Resurface WIS 89 and WIS 59 within the project limits
• New traffic signals, curb ramps, guardrail, pavement markings, and signing

Traffic Impacts:

This project will be completed in multiple stages. Traffic impacts are detailed below for each phase:

• Stage 1: WIS 59 will be closed to through traffic. A detour will be posted utilizing US 12, County N, and WIS 26. (see “Map” tab for detour information)
• Stage 2: Flagging operation on WIS 89. WIS 59 will reopen.
• Stage 3 (approx. 1 day): WIS 59 will be closed to through traffic with detour posted.

Local traffic will be maintained at all times during construction.

Schedule:

This project is scheduled to begin in early April 2026 and be completed by mid-summer 2026. All work is weather dependent and subject to change.
