I-41 Rehabilitation (Burleigh Street to Good Hope Road)

Project Details

Overview:

This project will make various ramp improvements and rehabilitate approximately five (5) miles of I-41 between W. Burleigh Street and Good Hope Road in Milwaukee County.

Improvements Include:

  • Resurface the existing pavement on I-41 from Burleigh Street to Good Hope Road
  • Pavement rehabilitation on various ramps
  • Replace noise wall at the Hampton Avenue southbound entrance ramp
  • Install new noise wall along the east side of I-41 south of Silver Spring Drive
  • Structure improvements to multiple bridges, including overlays and painting
  • Add southbound auxiliary lane from Capitol Drive to Hampton Avenue for improved merging at ramps
  • Storm sewer improvements
  • Lighting and signing improvements
  • Resurface Good Hope Road between I-41 ramp terminals
  • Resurface Burleigh Street between I-41 ramp terminals
  • Beam guard and signals upgrades
  • Spot barrier replacement
  • Median inlet replacement/repair

Traffic Impacts:

Long-term lane closures and overnight lane closures along I-41 are anticipated. During the long-term lane closures, traffic will be reduced from three lanes down to two. Traffic will be reduced from three lanes down to one lane only during overnight hours. Ramp closures will take place as needed.

Schedule:

Construction between Burleigh Street and Silver Spring Drive is scheduled to begin in early March 2025 and be completed by late summer 2026.

All work is weather dependent and subject to change.

Note: Construction is also anticipated between Silver Spring Drive and Good Hope Road. Project specifics are still being determined.
