Project Details
This WisDOT project will resurface and make improvements to approximately 2.12 miles of WIS 33 from the Milwaukee River to Summit Drive in Ozaukee County. The project will address the deteriorating pavement condition and improve traffic operations.
Improvements:
- Remove 2” inches of the existing pavement and replace it with 2 inches of new Hot-Mix Asphalt (HMA)
- Update sidewalk curb ramps to meet ADA standards
- Addition of Rapid Rectangular Flashing Beacon (RRFB) at Sweetwater Boulevard
- New pavement markings
- Replace signal video detection at Foster Road intersection
Traffic Impacts:
WIS 33 will remain open to one lane of traffic in each direction.
- Resurfacing work in the roundabouts (Market Street, Northwood Drive, County LL) will require overnight closures with detours.
- Short-term closures (approximately 4 days) to resurface the ramps at I-43/WIS 33 interchange.
- Short-term side road closures for paving operations.
Access to local businesses and residences will be maintained during construction.
Schedule:
Work on this project is scheduled to begin in mid-June 2026 and be completed by late summer 2026.
