Project Details
The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) is making improvements to approximately 4.8 miles of WIS 31 (Green Bay Road) between the Illinois State Line and WIS 50 in Kenosha County.
Improvements Include:
- Diamond grind the roadway surface to extend its service life
- Spot concrete pavement repairs
Traffic Impacts and Detours:
This project will require long-term lane closures within the project limits. Closures are expected to begin in mid-March and continue until late fall 2026.
- Single lane closures will be required during peak travel hours
- Motorists can expect double lane closures during off-peak travel hours
- Access to local businesses and residences will be maintained during construction
Getting Involved:
WisDOT will be holding a construction kickoff meeting for this project on Tuesday, March 24 2026. This meeting will give members of the community an opportunity to meet the project team and discuss the project scope and impacts. Meeting details below:
- Village Hall Auditorium (9915 39th Avenue, Pleasant Prairie, WI 53158
- Meeting will be located on the lower level on the south side of the building

Schedule:
Construction is anticipated to begin in mid-March and be completed by late fall 2026. All work is weather dependent and subject to change.
