Project Updates
August 29 Update
We are now into Stage 2 of the project, with just a little landscaping restoration and minor items to correct on the outside of the roadway on 27th Street. We will be taking a break for the holiday weekend, and so we will not be working on the project from noon today until Tuesday morning to avoid impacting traffic on a busy travel weekend. But, after the long Labor Day holiday weekend, we will be full speed ahead on the project work, including base patching for Lane 1 Northbound and Southbound, as well as left turn lanes and medians. We will also be completing curb repairs, curb ramps, and new median crossings. We will also have some signals work, including some new crossing buttons, and some storm sewer and other utility work that will be completed over the next few weeks as well.
Our goal is to complete the base patching for the NB side and start paving the NB binder layer of asphalt beginning the week of September 8th. This will be followed by completing base patches and paving the SB binder layer the following week (week of September 15th). Then, for lanes 1 and 2, we will be paving the surface layer of asphalt together, hopefully the week of the 22nd. This will be followed by restoration landscaping and cleanup of the project site the following week.
We were slowed down by the heavy rains in early August, which unfortunately impacted the overall project schedule, so we are shooting for completion of the major project work by early October (October 4th). We may still have some minor work to complete after the 4th, but I expect the majority of the work will be completed by that time. So, the good news is, the end of the project is near!
We thank you for your continued patience with the project, and have a great, safe Labor Day weekend!
