This WisDOT project will make various improvements to approximately 4.3 miles of WIS 190 (Capitol Drive), between Brookfield Road and 124th Street, in Waukesha and Milwaukee Counties.

Improvements:

• Resurface WIS 190 (Capitol Drive) within project limits
• Base patching and joint repairs
• Update pedestrian curb ramps within project limits to meet ADA standards
• Minor storm sewer and culvert improvements
• Install new traffic signal detection loops and traffic cameras at signalized intersections
• Repair the long culvert under WIS 190 (Capitol Drive), near intersection of 138th Street

Note: Overnight noise may be associated with some work activities, including removals and paving operations (saw cutting, pavement breaking, milling, paving)

Traffic impacts:

Traffic on WIS 190 (Capitol Drive) will be reduced to two lanes in each direction during peak hours and reduced to a single lane in each direction during non-peak (overnight) hours. Slotted left turn lanes will be closed for short periods of time when work is occurring within these lanes. Access to businesses and residences along WIS 190 (Capitol Drive) will be maintained at all times during construction.

Schedule:

Construction is scheduled to begin in late March 2026 and be completed by fall 2026. All work is weather dependent and subject to change.
