Project Details:
This project will make improvements to approximately 4.3 miles of US 18 (Sunset Drive) in Waukesha County, from WIS 67 in Dousman to the Waukesha/Jefferson county line in Oconomowoc. Three bridges along US 18 over the Bark River will also be replaced as part of the project.
Traffic Impacts/Detours:
US 18 (Sunset Drive) will be closed to through traffic from Waukesha/Jefferson county line to WIS 67 from September 5 to late November 2023, and then again from mid-February to early summer 2024.
- Full closure just west of Gramling Lane beginning September 5th; roadway will be impassible. Bridge out until fall 2023
- Local access will be maintained – drivers are allowed to enter the work zone if their destination is in the work zone
- Detour will be posted utilizing County BB to County DR, and WIS 67.
- Access to businesses in the work zone will be maintained.

US 18 Bridge Closures/Dates:
- Bark River bridge replacement west of Gramling Lane (Sept. 5th – late November 2023)
- Bark River bridge replacement east of S. Utica Road (Mid-February 2024 – late spring 2024)
- Bark River bridge replacement west of WIS 67 (Mid-February 2024 – late spring 2024)
Additional Improvements:
- 2024 Pavement resurfacing along the project limits (Late spring 2024 – early summer 2024)
- Asphalt pavement patching
- Milling and Asphalt resurfacing
- Guardrail repairs
- Installation of new pavement markings, rumble strips, and signing
- Deck replacement on eastbound WIS 59 bridge over Fox River
