This project will make improvements to the WIS 181 (N. 76th Street) bridge over the Union Pacific Railroad, between W. Dean Road and W. Tower Road in the city of Milwaukee.

Improvement Include:

• Bridge deck demolition and replacement
• Curb and gutter improvements
• New pavement markings
• New signing

Traffic Impacts:

Using new crossovers, traffic will be maintained in both directions on WIS 181 (N. 76th Street) during construction. Work will be completed in multiple stages.

2024:

• Stage 1: Inside lanes in both directions will be closed to construct temporary crossovers. Two lanes of traffic will remain open in each direction during this work.
• Stage 2: Traffic will be moved onto the northbound bridge while the southbound bridge is under construction.

Winter shutdown:

Both bridges will reopen for use during winter shutdown.

Spring 2025:

• Stage 3: Traffic will be moved onto the southbound bridge while the northbound bridge is under construction.

Schedule: 

This project is scheduled to begin in June 2024 and be completed in 2025.
