This project will make improvements to approximately 7.2 miles of US 12, between the city of Elkhorn and WIS 20 in Walworth County. A box culvert will also be replaced on WIS 11 near the city of Elkhorn as part of this project.

This project will be done in two phases:

Phase 1 Improvements: (Completed)

• Box culvert replacement on WIS 11 at Bakers Creek
• Asphalt pavement replacement over new culvert area
• New guardrail on each side of the culvert

Phase 2 Improvements: (Early June to fall 2024)

• Resurfacing US 12 between WIS 20 and WIS 67/US 12 split
• US 12 bridge reconstruction over Sugar Creek
• Westbound US 12 to northbound WIS 67 ramp terminal will be reconstructed to widen and lengthen the ramp merging lane into WIS 67.
• New traffic signals at County ES/US 12 intersection
• Guardrail safety enhancements

Phase 2 Traffic Impacts:

Local residents and businesses will have access along US 12 and County ES. US 12 will be fully closed between County A and County ES during the bridge reconstruction. Posted detour will utilize I-43 and WIS 20.

All work is weather dependent and subject to change. Work is scheduled for completion in fall 2024.
