{"id":69,"date":"2015-03-18T15:07:57","date_gmt":"2015-03-18T20:07:57","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/projects.511wi.gov\/us12corridor\/?page_id=69"},"modified":"2015-03-18T16:10:27","modified_gmt":"2015-03-18T21:10:27","slug":"south-section-needpurpose","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/projects.511wi.gov\/us12corridor\/south-section-needpurpose\/","title":{"rendered":"South section &#8211; Need\/Purpose"},"content":{"rendered":"<h2>US 12 Corridor, aka Baraboo Bypass &#8211; South section &#8211; Need\/purpose<\/h2>\n<h3>Why is this project needed?<\/h3>\n<p>This section of US 12 serves as a prime tourism center with the various natural areas \u2013 Devil\u2019s Lake and Mirror Lake State Parks, the many attractions in Lake Delton, Baraboo and Wisconsin Dells area.<\/p>\n<h3>Project benefits\/anticipated outcomes<\/h3>\n<p>Safer and more efficient roadway on US 12 around Baraboo south to the existing four-lane roadway.<\/p>\n<p>Majority of US 12 will be reconstructed from two lanes to four lanes to move traffic more efficiently, especially during the summer months when traffic volumes increase threefold.<\/p>\n<p>Safety will be improved by:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Removing direct access to businesses\/homes along the freeway portion around Baraboo.<\/li>\n<li>Allowing access only at the following two interchanges:\n<ul>\n<li>WIS 136<\/li>\n<li>County W<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>South of Baraboo, the <a href=\"http:\/\/projects.511wi.gov\/us12corridor\/needpurpose\/#expressways\">freeway<\/a> will change to an <a href=\"http:\/\/projects.511wi.gov\/us12corridor\/needpurpose\/#expressways\">expressway<\/a> with limited access to some businesses\/homes and full access to the Lehman Rd. and Ski Hi Rd. <a href=\"http:\/\/projects.511wi.gov\/us12corridor\/needpurpose\/#intersections\">intersections<\/a>.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>US 12 Corridor, aka Baraboo Bypass &#8211; South section &#8211; Need\/purpose Why is this project needed?
