{"id":123,"date":"2015-03-18T15:42:58","date_gmt":"2015-03-18T20:42:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/projects.511wi.gov\/us12corridor\/?page_id=123"},"modified":"2015-06-18T16:25:20","modified_gmt":"2015-06-18T21:25:20","slug":"north-section-needpurpose","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/projects.511wi.gov\/us12corridor\/north-section-needpurpose\/","title":{"rendered":"North section &#8211; Need\/purpose"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"color: red;\">Note &#8211; Construction completed 2011 and roadway open to traffic.<\/p>\n<div class=\"imagesRight\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" alignright\" title=\"West Fern Dell roundabout.\" src=\"http:\/\/projects.511wi.gov\/us12corridor\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/89\/westferndellrab2002.jpg\" alt=\"West Fern Dell roundabout.\" width=\"284\" height=\"213\" align=\"right\" hspace=\"5\" \/><\/div>\n<h3>Why is this project needed?<\/h3>\n<p>This section of US 12 serves as a prime tourism center with the various natural areas \u2013 Devil\u2019s Lake and Mirror Lake State Parks, the many attractions in Lake Delton, Baraboo and Wisconsin Dells area.<\/p>\n<h3>Project benefits<\/h3>\n<p>Safer and more efficient roadway between Lake Delton and the existing four lane roadway north of Baraboo.<\/p>\n<p>The majority of US 12 will be reconstructed from two lanes to four lanes to move traffic more efficiently, especially during the summer months when traffic volumes increase threefold.<\/p>\n<p>Safety will be improved by:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Removing direct access to businesses\/homes along <a href=\"http:\/\/projects.511wi.gov\/us12corridor\/needpurpose\/#expressways\">freeway<\/a> portion (I-90\/94 south to Baraboo).<\/li>\n<li>Allowing access only at three <a href=\"http:\/\/projects.511wi.gov\/us12corridor\/needpurpose\/#intersections\">interchanges<\/a>:\n<ul>\n<li>Fern Dell Rd.<\/li>\n<li>North Reedsburg Rd.<\/li>\n<li>WIS 33<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Note &#8211; Construction completed 2011 and roadway open to traffic.
