Maintenance is provided by county highway department crews or WisDOT Bureau of Structures bridge experts. Maintenance operation schedules can change due to weather and maintenance crew manpower. Work typically includes inspection of the electrical, mechanical, and hydrological systems, along with structural inspections of the infrastructure. Crews will also conduct bridge washing during the annual bridge maintenance. <a href=\"https:\/\/wisconsindot.gov\/Pages\/doing-bus\/eng-consultants\/cnslt-rsrces\/strct\/lift-bridges.aspx\">Please see WisDOT&#8217;s Lift Bridge Information website<\/a> for how WisDOT keeps bridges safe and efficient for all users on state highways.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Ray Nitschke and Bart Starr bridges, city of Green Bay, Brown County<\/strong><br \/>\nThere is a temporary closure of the Ray Nitschke Memorial Bridge (Dousman and Main Streets) and temporary change to the drawbridge operating schedule of the Ray Nitschke Memorial and Bart Starr Memorial Bridges for activities associated with the UW Madison and Notre Dame football game. These closures are conducted by the city of Green Bay.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>FULL CLOSURE: Ray Nitschke Memorial Bridge<\/strong> (Dousman Street and Main Street over the Fox River) will be CLOSED to vehicular traffic on Saturday, September 5, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 10 p.m.\n<ul>\n<li>Detour uses Washington Street, Walnut Street, and Ashland Avenue.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Ray Nitschke Memorial Bridge and the Bart Starr Memorial Bridge will be secured to masted navigation on Saturday, September 5, 2026, from 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m. and 6 p.m. to 9:30 p.m.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Leo Frigo Memorial Bridge inspections, city of Green Bay, Brown County<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>WisDOT bridge inspection engineers will be conducting routine inspection of the Leo Frigo Bridge in the city of Green Bay, Brown County. This routine inspection will take place daily, Monday, Sept. 14 through Thursday, Sept. 17. This is an annual routine inspection. There are no current safety or travel issues on the Leo Frigo Bridge. Motorist will see bridge inspection vehicles and drones in the air during the inspection days.\n<ul>\n<li>Southbound I-43 will have one lane of traffic open between Atkinson Drive and I-43 on Monday and Tuesday (Sept. 14\/15) between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.<\/li>\n<li>Northbound I-43 will have one lane of traffic open between Atkinson Drive and I-43 on Wednesday and Thursday (Sept. 16\/17) between the hours of 9 a.m. and 3 p.m.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<li>Motorists should expect slowdowns or backups on the bridge during inspection hours. Please pay attention to bridge signage.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Maple\/Oregon Street Bridge, Sturgeon Bay, Door County, Sept. 14\/15.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>FULL CLOSURE:<\/strong> Bridge crews will apply epoxy overlay patches on the Maple\/Oregon Bridge in the city of Sturgeon Bay, Door County, on Monday, September 14 and Tuesday, September 15 from 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.\u00a0 The Maple\/Oregon Bridge will be CLOSED to marine and roadway vehicle traffic during work. This work is weather dependent. Wednesday, September 16 will be the back up for any weather delays on Monday or Tuesday.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Highway maintenance<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Brown County<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Maintenance crews will be working on the approaches of NB and SB I-41 between Scheuring Road and Memorial Drive on Wednesday, September 9 and Thursday, September 10 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. A moving lane closure will be used during maintenance.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Outagamie County<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Maintenance crews will be repairing pavement on EB and WB WIS 15 between Lily of the Valley and McCarthy Road on Tuesday, September 8 to Thursday, September 10 from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. Various lane closures will be used during repairs.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Sheboygan County<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Maintenance crews will be repairing pavement on NB and SB I-43 between Wilson Lima Road and WIS 28 on Tuesday, September 8 to 3 p.m., Thursday, September 10.
