I-94 North-South Freeway Project

Environmental document re-evaluation

The Wisconsin Department of Transportation (WisDOT) and the Federal Highway Administration (FHWA) are re-evaluating environmental documentation for four projects in northern Racine County, as part of the I-94 North/South Program.

  • I-94 Mainline from Hwy 20 to County K
  • I-94 County K Interchange
  • I-94 Mainline from County K to County G
  • I-94 Mainline from County G to 7 Mile Road

An Environmental Assessment (EA) for the County K Interchange was completed in 1996 and it was subsequently re-evaluated in 2007. An Environmental Impact Statement (EIS) for the I-94 mainline from Hwy 20 to 7 Mile Road was completed in 2008. An update to the documentation is necessary to ensure the projects are ready to be constructed in anticipation of additional federal funding opportunities. At this time, the specific project construction timeline is not known.
