I-43 Resurfacing & Bridge Work

Brown, Manitowoc and Sheboygan Counties

Project Overview

A resurfacing project on I-43 in Brown, Manitowoc and Sheboygan counties will close lanes on the busy interstate. The project also includes ramp and bridge structure work that have associated long-term ramp and local road closures for the bridge and ramp construction. Work in Manitowoc County and Brown County begins March 20, 2017. Sheboygan resurfacing gets underway June 1, 2017. All projects will finish in November 2017. The lane closures will cause delay/slow traffic during peak travel times (evening/morning commute).

Freeway Service Teams are available in project work zones to assist motorists – free of charge – who need towing or minor assistance. Please see county-specific details below.

Project benefits include extending the life of the existing pavement, ramp and bridge structures on I-43, and providing an improved driving surface for motorists. Cable guard installation on WIS 172 will prevent vehicles from traversing the median and possibly colliding with vehicles traveling in the opposite direction.
