Construction of the I-794 Lake Freeway/Hoan Bridge is approaching a project milestone. Over the past year and a half, crews have removed and replaced the I-794 Lake Freeway bridges with new structures, and have performed concrete overlay and surface repairs on the Lake Interchange. A stage switch is set to occur on the evening of September 3 as crews work to decouple traffic.
On the morning of September 4, motorists should take note of the following changes:
The Jackson Street temporary entrance ramp to I-794 West will be closed
I-794 Eastbound & Westbound traffic will be traveling on their respective new roadways from the Marquette Interchange to the Hoan Bridge arches
The I-794 West exit to Milwaukee Street will be reopened
Lane and ramp restrictions will remain in place until mid September when both the Jackson Street entrance and exit ramps are reopened. Lane restrictions on I-794 will remain in place through late fall as crews continue work to remove the temporary crossover west of the project. Bridge deck work on the northbound lanes of the Hoan Bridge is scheduled to be completed in December 2015.
