Purpose and Need
The Green Tree Road bridge over I-43 is in need of replacement. The new bridge will have a higher profile and longer spans to help improve safety and capacity in the area. As part of this project, the Good Hope Road entrance ramp to I-43 southbound was reconstructed, and adjustments to Green Tree Road and Jean Nicolet Road will be made to match the new bridge profile. - Good Hope Road entrance ramp to I-43 southbound.
- Eastbound Green Tree Road to southbound Jean Nicolet Road turning movement.
- Green Tree Road access is closed at the bridge
- Closure of remaining legs of Jean Nicolet Road and Green Tree Road intersection
To successfully deliver this project, a full closure of the bridge will be necessary. Due to the close proximity of the project, WisDOT is reminding motorists that throughout the project, access to and from Nicolet High School will see reconfigured traffic control movements. During the current Stage 3 configuration, motorists will only be able to head east on Green Tree Road to make a right turn onto Jean Nicolet Road. For more information on school logistics, please visit the Nicolet High School webpage.
With the bridge being located over I-43, minor impacts to the freeway will be seen in various stages of the project. Travel lanes will be adjusted to allow for work under the bridge, and short-term overnight closures will take place to allow for storm sewer work, bridge demolition and bridge forming.
For any remaining overnight freeway closures, motorists should use Good Hope Road, WIS 57 (Green Bay Road), and Silver Spring Drive to connect back with I-43 in either direction.
