Purpose and Need
The Green Tree Road bridge over I-43 is in need of replacement. The new bridge will have a higher profile and longer spans to help improve safety and capacity in the area. As part of this project, the Good Hope Road entrance ramp to I-43 southbound will be reconstructed, and adjustments to Green Tree Road and Jean Nicolet Road will be made to match the new bridge profile. To successfully deliver this project, a full closure of the bridge will be necessary. To help alleviate impacts to Nicolet High School traffic, the closure will mostly be in effect during the summer months. In addition to the bridge closure, the on-ramp from Good Hope Road to I-43 southbound will also be closed for reconstruction.
May 8, 2018 – Good Hope Road entrance ramp to I-43 southbound to close for 90 days.
With the bridge being located over I-43, minor impacts to the freeway will be seen in various stages of the project. Travel lanes will be adjusted to allow for work under the bridge, and short-term overnight closures will take place to allow for storm sewer work, bridge demolition and bridge forming.
Due to the close proximity of the project, WisDOT is reminding motorists that throughout the project, access to and from Nicolet High School will see reconfigured traffic control movements.
For both the ramp closure and overnight freeway closures, motorists should use Good Hope Road, WIS 57 (Green Bay Road), and Silver Spring Drive to connect back with I-43 in either direction.
