{"id":12,"date":"2026-01-14T13:15:06","date_gmt":"2026-01-14T19:15:06","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/projects.511wi.gov\/59waukesha\/full-project-overview\/"},"modified":"2026-03-30T09:22:38","modified_gmt":"2026-03-30T14:22:38","slug":"full-project-overview","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/projects.511wi.gov\/59waukesha\/full-project-overview\/","title":{"rendered":"Project Details"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This WisDOT project will resurface and make various improvements to approximately 12.6 miles of WIS 59 (Genesee Road\/State Road), between County X (Saylesville Road) and WIS 67, in Waukesha County.<\/p>\n<h3>Improvements:<\/h3>\n<ul>\n<li>Mill and overlay (resurface) WIS 59 within project limits<\/li>\n<li>Replace traffic signal at County E in the village of North Prairie<\/li>\n<li>Extend right turn lanes at Eagle Drive, Oak Ridge Drive, Piper Road, and Corby Drive<\/li>\n<li>Replace railroad crossing surface and upgrade warning devices at the crossing west of North Prairie<\/li>\n<li>Resurface bridge structures over Genesee Creek<\/li>\n<li>Resurface bridge structure over Saylesville Creek<\/li>\n<li>Upgrade curb ramps in the villages of Eagle and North Prairie<\/li>\n<li>Replace sections of guardrail<\/li>\n<li>Add rumble strips along the centerline and shoulders along WIS 59<\/li>\n<li>New pavement markings<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3>Traffic Impacts and Detours:<\/h3>\n<p>WIS 59 is scheduled to be closed to through traffic during construction. Detours will be utilized for this project.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/projects.511wi.gov\/59waukesha\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1462\/map.pdf\">View Detour Map<\/a><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A long-term detour will be posted utilizing WIS 59 to WIS 67 to US 18 to WIS 59.<\/li>\n<li>A short-term detour within the work zone will be posted utilizing Road X and County E for the reconstruction of the Wisconsin &amp; Southern Railroad Crossing.<\/li>\n<li>Access to local residences and businesses will be maintained<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Motorists are always encouraged to check\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/511wi.gov\/\">511wi.gov<\/a>\u00a0for the latest information on traffic conditions before any drive.<\/p>\n<h3>Schedule:<\/h3>\n<p>Construction is scheduled to begin in April 2026 and be completed by late fall 2026.
