{"id":48,"date":"2026-03-30T09:05:40","date_gmt":"2026-03-30T14:05:40","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/projects.511wi.gov\/59waukesha\/?page_id=48"},"modified":"2026-07-06T16:25:49","modified_gmt":"2026-07-06T21:25:49","slug":"project-updates","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/projects.511wi.gov\/59waukesha\/project-updates\/","title":{"rendered":"Project Updates"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><strong>Phase 2 road construction began on Monday June 8<sup>th<\/sup> and will last into the fall.\u00a0 Phase 2 is the segment between Eagle and the WIS 83 roundabout. <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Traffic Updates<\/strong> <strong>\u2013 Week of 7\/6\/2026<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The segment of WIS 59 between WIS 83 and County X is complete and will remain fully open to traffic.<\/li>\n<li>The work on the WSOR Railroad crossing, just west of North Prairie, has been completed.\u00a0 The crossing panels on WIS 59 have been replaced.<\/li>\n<li>The segment between Eagle and WIS 83 remains \u201cRoad Closed to Thru Traffic\u201d.\u00a0 \u00a0<strong>Local access will be maintained for residents and businesses in the closed area<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>Daily localized traffic flagging and operations will continue as needed in North Prairie.\u00a0 All curb &amp; gutter, sidewalk and driveway replacements are complete.\u00a0 The current work is adjusting and repairing manholes along WIS 59.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Construction Updates \u2013 Week of 7\/6\/2026<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Manhole repairs and adjustments, along with new traffic signal work at County E is ongoing North Prairie under localized traffic control and flagging operations to maintain through traffic. \u00a0 After the holiday weekend, contractors will begin yard restoration in North Prairie &amp; Eagle by removing silt fence, grading &amp; placing topsoil, then installing sod or seed with erosion mat.<\/li>\n<li>Areas of guardrail are being replaced in Eagle and just east of North Prairie.\u00a0 Slope grading is required at those locations and is ongoing.<\/li>\n<li>Several turn lanes to side roads between Eagle and North Prairie are being expanded.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>*The milling\/paving train operations will resume on Monday 7\/6\/2026 at WIS 83.\u00a0 The contractor plans on milling and paving the phase 2 segment starting at Commercial Drive, just west of the roundabout, and working to the west.\u00a0 The paving train will start a few days after the milling operations.\u00a0 Milling should reach North Prairie on Wednesday, 7\/8\/26.\u00a0 This operation is slow-moving with large equipment and utilizes many dump trucks.\u00a0 It is anticipated this will be very disruptive to traffic, particularly at the County E and WIS 59 intersection in North Prairie when the milling train is passing through there.\u00a0 The contractor is also required to mill around manholes and water valves in the village, making it more time consuming and disruptive to traffic.\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The project strongly suggests drivers use alternate routes when the contractor is milling or paving through North Prairie.\u00a0 <\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>For the residents and businesses along WIS 59 in North Prairie, the contractor will ramp from the milled surface up the curb, ensuring driveways are accessible after the milling operation.\u00a0 The depth of the milling is 3\u201d only, which means driveways would be traversable if needed before the gravel ramps are installed.\u00a0 It is also recommended that vehicles are out of the driveways prior to the mill or paving passing through.\u00a0 Both units work at a slow walking pace, so if a vehicle does need to get out, or in, right when the contractor is blocking the property, you may need to wait until they pass.\u00a0 This is usually around 15 minutes.\u00a0 The first lift of new asphalt will be 3\u201d, bringing the surface up to the existing grade.\u00a0 The final lift of asphalt will bring the surface to 2\u201d higher than existing grade, matching the recently raised curb and driveway areas.<\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Phase 2 road construction began on Monday June 8th and will last into the fall.\u00a0 Phase 2 is the segment between Eagle and the WIS 83 roundabout.
