{"id":12,"date":"2018-04-13T16:30:54","date_gmt":"2018-04-13T21:30:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/projects.511wi.gov\/4596int\/full-project-overview\/"},"modified":"2018-04-19T10:19:56","modified_gmt":"2018-04-19T15:19:56","slug":"full-project-overview","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/projects.511wi.gov\/4596int\/full-project-overview\/","title":{"rendered":"Project Overview"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The purpose of this project is to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Improve safety by reducing the number and severity of potential crashes<\/li>\n<li>Maintain current and future capacity needs for the intersection<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The left-turn lane lengths on US 45 are not long enough to provide adequate deceleration for turning vehicles. And, the turn lanes are configured in a way that opposing left-turn vehicles obstruct the view of oncoming traffic.<\/p>\n<p>From 2010 to 2014, there were 11 crashes at the intersection:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Four right-angle crashes\n<ul>\n<li>Three westbound-southbound crashes and one eastbound-southbound crash<\/li>\n<li>Of the four crashes, two westbound vehicles ran a red light and one eastbound vehicle ran a red light.
