Website for reference only.\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Construction began Tuesday, April 1, 2025,<\/strong> on 4.6 miles of WIS 42 between Manitowoc and Two Rivers in Manitowoc County. The existing beamguard has reached the end of its useful life and the metal culvert pipes under the highway are deteriorating. Photo on right)<\/li>\n<li>Pavement marking<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Construction benefits<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Resurfacing will provide a smoother ride for motorists, extend the life of the pavement, and decrease future maintenance costs. Culvert repairs\/replacements will help ensure proper drainage and lessen the likelihood of collapse. Mirro Drive realignment will provide a safer turning and crossing movement. Bridge overlay will extend the life of the bridge. Beamguard upgrades will provide a greater level of safety should impact occur.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Traffic impacts<a href=\"http:\/\/projects.511wi.gov\/42twinbridge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1382\/bridgeworkahead.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignright wp-image-40\" src=\"http:\/\/projects.511wi.gov\/42twinbridge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1382\/bridgeworkahead.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"190\" height=\"122\" srcset=\"https:\/\/projects.511wi.gov\/42twinbridge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1382\/bridgeworkahead.jpg 300w, https:\/\/projects.511wi.gov\/42twinbridge\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/1382\/bridgeworkahead-132x85.jpg 132w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 190px) 100vw, 190px\" \/><\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>WIS 42 will be <strong>CLOSED AND DETOURED<\/strong> to through traffic from April 1, 2025, through May 23, 2025, for bridge deck work and culvert replacements. This work will have minor impacts to the traveling public.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Temporary business signing<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If business access is impacted by a closure or detour, temporary business signing may be placed by filling out a WisDOT business signing permit. All temporary business signing needs approval via the permit before placement to ensure it is in a safe location and does not pose a visual distraction or traffic hazard. The temporary business signing permit is free.
