During the I-94 North-South project, WIS 20 was used as an important alternate route for area road/ramp closures. The WIS 20 Crossroads project is the final part of the I-94 North-South Freeway project. WisDOT is reconstructing WIS 20 from east of the roundabout at County C to approximately 3,000 feet east of the East Frontage Road in the villages of Yorkville and Mount Pleasant in Racine County. The project will upgrade and widen this four-lane facility to accommodate new standards and operational improvements. The project also provides improved access for new development along WIS 20, east of I-94. The project includes a new intersection at Red Cloud Drive, new/upgraded traffic signals, concrete pavement, and improved storm water facilities.
International Drive, south of WIS 20, will be used as a detour route during the WIS 20 Crossroad project. Prior to the start of major impacts along WIS 20, International Drive will be resurfaced from WIS 20 to the south for 0.5 miles.
