{"id":12,"date":"2026-01-14T13:27:17","date_gmt":"2026-01-14T19:27:17","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/projects.511wi.gov\/144westbend\/full-project-overview\/"},"modified":"2026-03-12T11:50:36","modified_gmt":"2026-03-12T16:50:36","slug":"full-project-overview","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/projects.511wi.gov\/144westbend\/full-project-overview\/","title":{"rendered":"Project Overview"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>This WisDOT project will resurface and make improvements to approximately 8.5 miles of WIS 144, between Skyline Drive in the city of West Bend and the Washington\/Sheboygan County line.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Improvements:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Mill two (2) inches of existing asphalt and replace it with two (2) inches of new asphalt<\/li>\n<li>Remove and replace existing guardrail to meet current standards<\/li>\n<li>Plant living snow fence (shrubs) in select locations<\/li>\n<li>Replace curb ramps to meet ADA standards<\/li>\n<li>Remove cattle pass near the county line and replace it with a culvert pipe<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Note: At the intersection of WIS 144 and County H, the existing pavement will remain. A roundabout will be constructed at this location in the future. The gap will be re-striped to maintain visibility of pavement markings. View future roundabout project <a href=\"https:\/\/wisconsindot.gov\/Pages\/projects\/by-region\/se\/144wash\/default.aspx\">here.<\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Traffic Impacts:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This project will be split into two stages. During each stage, WIS 144 will be closed to through traffic with a posted detour. Local traffic will be guided and protected with a flagging operation.<\/p>\n<p>Stage 1: Skyline Drive to WIS 28<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Detour: WIS 33 to US 45 to WIS 28<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Stage 2: WIS 28 to Washington\/Sheboygan County line<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Detour: County H to County XX<\/li>\n<li>Truck Detour: County A to WIS 57 to WIS 144<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>There will be a short-term full closure of WIS 144 near the county line for cattle pass removal<\/p>\n<p><strong>Schedule:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Work is scheduled to begin in late March and be completed by summer 2026.
